I like to see the stains all around evenly. I'm not sure if I see that on yours

Cleaned the block with plastic razor blades to get off all that I could, then used adhesive 360grit sand on a long piece of flat wood. And sanded them I'm an bottom left to top right and opposite motion.

That's definitely new to me... Not something I'd personally do.

Well all you can do is get the gaskets off and look for the failed area. examine that spot on both the heads and block.

Hmm that's crazy cause I was asking around about 1-2 months before I started the job and that was the most liked method I got in my build thread on here.

The block didn't look clean enough to me. JMO.

Were the heads taken to a machine shop?

Any cleaner than the one I posted and you have taken off metal.

When using the sand paper board method, I like to use a 2" x 2" square stock steel that has been ground on a surface grinder top and bottom. Then I will put some blue machinist dye on the block then sand and it will show you your high and low spots. The problem with the wood is it will flex.

I agree with Cobra. All of my Deck surfaces look cleaner than that and I've never had a 6 liter come back after new Gaskets.

So Cutting Edge is doing the work.on.my truck this time. He got the truck pulled apart and it's leaking on both sides on the head side.

Thinking that either I didn't torque them down properly or a stud(s) failed. I torqued them according to the paper using a CDI 250lb torque wrench. I called extreme studs and they are sending out a new set and asked for the old ones to test.

The heads I bought last year can't be reused because they are are already .002 thinner then the spec calls for. Any thinner and we may get valve contact.

But hopefully with a good shop handling it this time I won't have to worry anymore.

You should be good this time around. Sucks to have to go through it again, but at least with Matt doing the work it will give you some peace of mind.

Is the failure of those gaskets on the in between layers? Cause I don't see a break in the blue sealant around the fire ring

I couldn't tell you, he said it was leaking between the cylinders. These are the "new" heads that were pulled off of it.

This is after 3 runs through the surface grinder.

Sorry to hear this. I'm going to have cutting edge install my studs and head gaskets later this year.
