Can't wait to see it done. Every other truck you have built has turned out awesome and I'm sure this one won't be any different!

Thanks! Im really anxious to get it done and see how they like their first truck!

what's in Courtneys mouth?

Well at that certain time it was a corona in her mouth

Looks like another cool project Matt, you got a deal on that truck!

Thank you! Yeah I couldnt pass that deal up, especially when it only took about two hours tonight to make the truck four wheel drive

holy hell this a an awesome project for mom and pop...

live life full throttle

Its definitely a lot of fun to be able to do this for them after everything they have done for me!

Looks like a cool project. So how long have you lived in Vandalia? Your about an hour from me.

Thanks, Ive lived here since august, your not far at all then.

Finally got the truck pulled in the shop after work tonight and started on it around 530. Got the cab pulled first and the engine torn down. Overall the engine looked great! The EGR cooler was blown as expected, and whoever had the cab off before did a hell of a hackjob with missing turbo bolts, oil filter housing bolt, and other random bolts missing as well as a broken ICP pigtail help together by zip ties. Oh and cross the dummy plugs and stc off the list, Im an idiot and forgot this was an early 04 truck. Got the exhaust all ripped off too.

Then it was on to the 4wd swap. Got the transfercase and rear driveshaft bolted up. Im still waiting on the CV joint rebuild kit for the front driveshaft to show up so it hasnt been installed yet. Then after that it was on to ripping out all the 2wd crap.

After all that was out and the coil towers popped off we wheeled the dana 60 in and the the leafs off and put the add a leafs in. Then went to work on getting the shock mounts and front and rear shackle mounts bolted on as well as the track bar mount. Then the leaf packs went on and then got the axle rolled up and set the leafs down on the axle. Got the u bolts tightened up, drag link bolted on and at 11:00 we called it done for the night with the four wheel drive swap done minus the trac bar which will go on once the cab is done.

I still need to go through the brakes and everything and replace one broken wheel stud but not a bad nights work for a couple of us. Heads go to the machine shop in the morning and hopefully the engine parts and exhaust and all that will be here in the next couple days. Here are some pics

Thats awesome didn't realize it was that simple of a swap from 2wd to 4

I couldn't believe how easy it was when I did mine a few years ago, I love that Ford made all the frames the same and everything a direct swap. It is a bit more involved with a 4r100 or a ZF6 though, since the output shaft and tail housing have to be swapped out in order to bolt up a transfer case.

Yeah I love how universal everything is on these frames.

Heads should be done in the morning. All engine parts and exhaust should be here in the morning so tomorrow night the engine should be going back together and the cab back down. Then Im just waiting on wheel spacers and 05 front parts to show up

Awesome job! I've been anxiously awaiting update pics on Instagram too LOL

I'm sure you're parents are going to be really happy with the final product. Great looking shop set up you got going too.

Obviously you have a lot on your plate, but any idea when the 86 will be complete? Really excited about that project as well.

Pardon my ignorance but is electronics from 2x4 to 4x4 pretty simple? I only has because my truck is a nightmare electronics wise. Also since it's going up on the salt belt are you doing any rust prevention?

Yeah I love the way they look

Since I went with a manual transfercase the only electronic part would be the four wheel drive indicator. Yes as far as rust prevention Im going to coat the frame in chassis saver like I did on my truck

Did some polishing on the wheels today

Truck is almost done

The IPR screen was about halfway off the IPR, that explains part of why it started so hard when cold besides the four bad glow plugs

Decided to replace the water pump as well becuase I could see a little coolant on the front cover and when I pulled it out, it was worn out to the born where the fins were contacting the housing. Threw in a new thermostat as well

Truck runs great! Just need to straighten the steering wheel, fix a small coolant leak on the lower radiator hose and put the 05 front end on and the truck is just about done
