I have a customer with an OBS in Florida spraying his 38r with a 1.15 housing all the time! He runs a 12.5 on fuel and sprays to 11.47-11.55!! I warned him about doing it with the 38r but so far so good. Our drag truck is running a 38r and we have a progressive nitrous kit on it, so we will see!

I was meaning BP=Back Pressure

The 38R has a super tough center section no doubt but IMO its a lot of pressure to keep asking from any turbo when you are adding a 100HP or more of outputted exhaust gases all going to be crammed thru what is already a too small turbine wheel for even a fuel only setup. I would not be surprised if BP was up over 100 PSI on those sprayed runs. Consider what they may be doing with heads exhaust valves springs trying to hold back that additional pressure already at high RPMS. WG it properly and all those issues go away.

What about the wastegate that comes on a 38R? Or is that not very useful? And should it not be trusted?

There's different schools of thought on it David. I'd like to be able to test it with a cut divider and a back pressure reference on the wastegate actuator. I bet you could get some pretty good flow through the small hole...
I think it's about 20mm.

I feel if it was gonna be done it would definitely need the 1.15. Then the pmrs come in to question, but who knows they may be tougher than we think. Hahaha

Will it work? Has it been done? I have a non wastegated 38R with the factory 1.0 housing. How much could or can be sprayed through this charger? Brian Jelich broke the shaft first time he sprayed his... So thats whats holding me back. Has anyone done it? Results?

There's a duramax with EFI live that I really want to beat at the next pull... He's been putting 5-6' on me the past few pulls...

spray it !!

Our 250/100's. For TS we are trying to get the S468 with a gate and our 300/200's in it. Should be a little faster, I hope.
