I would add hd pistons or have the lips machined out of your stock ones.

empire will not take my pistons out and machine them, using existing parts.

its not the right way, and i cannot blame them. but it was worth a call to find out my options.

putting a short block in it, to get modified pistons......not in budget, i don't think.

well, unless this guy buys my other truck tomorrow, i suppose.

For as much labor as you got in it this far I would really do pistons...


Machining used pistons isn't ideal but neither is stock

Thats why I said HD pistons first. Machining the old ones may not be the best but anything is better. I hope that guy buys your other truck so you can upgrade.

Rivets are the new duct tape.

ya, i know, but really its a simply matter of dollars and cents.

you simply have to stop when you run out of them.

don't get me wrong. i would love to do them, and nail this thing done.

i just might have to wait till next year and do them then, even though i would save some of them by doing it now.

Dustin did you ever get a chance to dyno or run at the track with the manifolds and up pipes yet? Looking to see what numbers they put up.

Why don't you jut get a set of Hallers coated International Pistons and throw them in there? I wouldnt go to all that work and not intall a set of pistons, espicialy if you tow often. After cracking a piston in the middle of no where I know how bad things can go and being so close to the pistons I would just do them, even before a cam if you can only do one.
These guys still haunt me in my sleep
