What are y'all doing with the DEF tank?

I have auto diesel pumps here and it's just enough to fit, plus its a reserve for the oh **** moment on long trips across the country

How do you have it tied into the main tank?

I have a small transfer pump sucking through the factory pick up in the def tank and it goes to a small fitting that I welded in the filler neck

I wonder if the little pump inside used to pump the def would work for pumping the diesel from one to the other? If you flushed it out with water then ran some diesel through it. I heard it is a low volume pump but don't know anything else about it.

This is an awe full amount of work for an extra 5 gallons....

Just take a break and stop and get fuel! Lol

You're probably right and after pulling my tank and washing it out I'll think the same, it is just one of those ideas you feel like you have to try and see if it works.

Could you remove the def tank and with the extra space now install a long wheel base fuel tank in place of a short wheelbase tank?

I drilled a hole in the bottom. Flushed it With a water hose for about 2 hours. Tapped it then put a fitting in the bottom

Probally not but you could use a tank off an older truck that's for a short bed.

dont think they changed tank capacity. both shortbeds so same tank i believe.

He is right, I know the 08-10 short beds have the same tank size.
I'm thinking my buddies 03 short bed also has the same tank size.
