Why can't the thread be moved and everyone can join in on this

Or someone can make another version of this in another section. That would be better then one cluster ***'ed thread. This way the discussion can be kept specific to motor and body style/generation.

This isn't the right spot but it's kind of a planned mod so I guess I'll ask my buddy at school has a TS 6 pos he wants me to try but I'm skeptical because My truck has almost 281000 miles I don't have gauges yet but would I be safe to try it for a day or two? I think he said he would sell it to me for like $100 bucks too so should I give it a try? If I'm relatively safe I'll have my first mod :D

What year pickup did the Chip come off of??? And is the pickup a auto or manual that the chip came off of? Is is a generic TS chip? Or is it a custom tuned TS chip?

My truck is a 97 with an E4OD

You'll have the have the chip re-tuned for an automatic before running it.
Tunes for a manual trans will not have provisions for shifting.
Most tuners will re-burn an existing chip for $150.

I would still get EGT and trans temp gauges at the very least before you start bumping up performance.

So I couldn't try it for even a day or two? And once I start working and have some money I think I'm going to get a CTS for gauges.
