Dana 80 swap vs Repairing 10.25 Sterling..

I wonder if the hubs on a 10.5 are the same bearing and race configuration and you can just swap your hubs over.. I don't care about the disc brakes all that much.. My drums last too long as is, and never really had a braking issue, I may have one bought tomorrow if guy calls out a 1990...

Dana 80 swap vs Repairing 10.25 Sterling..

10-4 will do... I wanna build for the future which is more important to me than just trying fix what I have.. I can rebuild my Sterling cheap but I want ultimate longevity and the ability to hook to a sled anytime and know I'm not gonna snap it to pieces with a few brush pulls here and there...

Dana 80 swap vs Repairing 10.25 Sterling..

Hmm... That may be the future for this truck as I plan to get the lift off of it this spring after I clear some vehicles out. How did you 10.5 hold up to your engines that were laying down serious power?

Dana 80 swap vs Repairing 10.25 Sterling..

I know finding one with the Speed sensor in the rear end is key, I know I wanna get a 1480 drive shaft built to fit, how long are these 10.25s lasting with halfway serious power on here?

Dana 80 swap vs Repairing 10.25 Sterling..

Who here has swapped a Dana 80 into an OBS and what was the best axle from which particular truck to locate.. My 10.25 needs a tone ring and I know once I get into it I know it's not just gonna be a tone ring replacement... Is it worth it to repair a 10.25 or just go up to Dana 80 and be done...

Dorman Valve cover gaskets... And anything that doesn't look factory stay away from..

Had a 2002 F350 I was working on, had damn near brand new valve cover gaskets, injectors, glow plugs ect, all done 50,000 miles ago by previous owner that new owner had bought the truck from. Owner sold truck with 382,000 figuring the dead miss was engine damage and got what he could out of it...

    1995 7.3 4 X 4 5 speed

Those itty bitty 90cc injectors just don't give us the grunt most are looking for.. Thee most unfortunate thing about the 7.3 platform is the ability to make enjoyable power from a tune and a few mods... You COULD do this, buy a set of say 250/200s and have the truck tuned very CONSERVATIVELY to...

    1995 7.3 4 X 4 5 speed

Ok.... Low power checks 7.3... Hmmm, check fuel pressure at the shrader valve... Is it between 55 and 65 psi at around 1600rpm?? You need to see the ICP and is it holding steady, does your commanded IPR when it changes does the ICP change fairly quickly as well... If it doesn't with stock...

    E4OD Issues

In manual 2nd the intermediate band is applied, the coast clutches and intermediates are applied... Soooo if you look at your valve body description the band is doing thee exact same thing as the intermediates would do if they weren't applied, it's holding the direct drum stationary making it...

    Buying a used motor?

Try to find a guy who is selling one as a "core", I missed out on one complete from HPOP to oil pan for 500 bucks, forged motor out of a van with 375,000 miles on it. They're out there, pull the dip stick and smell the oil, if it smells like fuel, coolant, the oil is milky, something out of the...

    Hybrids or big oil?

Sir I run a set of 250/200's with an Adrenaline and I couldn't be happier, when I built the engine with studs, springs, and pushrods as well as some pocket porting the driveability is incredible, very cool egts. I bought the Hydra and have several tunes from Gear Head and Bob at PHP, the Gear...

    1997 SCLB Rust repair

I have a gut feeling this is gonna turn into a build thread once I make up my mind... Either way the truck has a ton of new parts already installed and it does run and drive really good for what it is.

    1996 f250 7.3 4x4 reg cab

Please fix that truck up for the love of god... We need to build up the army of OBS's that do 500+ to the ground... The jaw dropping factor when a new school gets passed in an old slow obs is just too much to part one apart that looks that good lol..

    1997 SCLB Rust repair

Ok, I have a question on what's more time consuming and cost effective, I have a quite a bit of cab corner rot on my 1997 F350 Single cab, typical rust from years of muddy boots and being a slightly lifted work truck. Truck has the Rare XLT package with power windows, locks, and lumbar with...

    Poppet valve

I would remove them and have Tim or a reputable builder test them on a flow bench for poppet valve leaks.. You'd need to be able to cut out test and try to run the engine up into the rpms to while stopping oil flow to that injector to see if you have a possible leak, but it's not a dead accurate...

    Possible cracked block?

Ok... lets break this down, you bought a higher mileage 7.3, added some tunes, had EGT issues, and then you popped a radiator, this is what I would have done first, and I know it's useless now BUT it would have been wise to replace the known failed radiator first, get the truck to hold coolant...
