Looks like a solid build, the only things I can think of that I would add that I didn't see there are a new waterpump, and possibly a regulated return to match your fuel pump setup.

I have the Driven Diesel regulated return and I hope it will hold pressure with the 6.4 pump and the larger pickup.

The water pump I have not done I did throw in a new thermostat since it is so easy and not very expensive the old one came out in pieces so it needed it.

I am trying to figure out who to use for a tune today I was told gearhead would be best since I am lifted on 35" and stock trans. .

So I got the truck all done had to button up a few things I was having issues with. First was I could not get the turbo to build boost the vgt was staying at one percentage and not adjusting but Charlie came all the way over to my house and checked everything out and got it working properly.. Best customer service ever!!!! Great guy I have been talking to him regularly and he has answered all of my questions.

The next issue I was having was the 3-5 shift after downloading the tune and doing to the learning process it was dropping into neutral instead of making the shift on WOT. I tried a few different tunes and found my truck seemed to like gearheads tune the best for shifting and after driving the truck and adjusting the pressure up +10 like gearhead suggested the truck is now shifting fine.

I am taking to the truck to the local track Friday night to see what it will run again my truck is lifted on 35's so it will not be very fast I stopped at a local scale today and it weighs 8260 with me in it and hitch etc.(Full trim) I was hopping it would be under 8k but the 20' wheels big tires 5th wheel hitch in bed and stereo stuff in the back it adds up quickly.

I am running gearheads reduced fuel tune and I see 1500 egt's with this tune at wot the full fuel tune is a little too hot when I tried it but that was at a higher elevation as well. I might have a small boost leak somewhere because I have only seen a max psi of 31 but it is also over 100's here in Phoenix so the air is not very dense.

Took a little road trip with the truck since I finished and put about 600 miles on it in 1 day and found the side of my truck to look like this after.....

Ran the truck at the track last night temp was about 96 and I pulled the spare tire off and the hitch. I am running the gearhead reduced fuel tune and saw 31 psi and 1500 get going down the track. I did have a hard time getting the turbo to spool at the light it was just dumping fuel so I think I have a boost leak somewhere. Either way I was happy the truck ran a 13.3!!! I am very happy with that for how heavy the truck is. Here is my time slip I was the right lane.

Is that still the stock trans?

Also the full fuel tune is his race tune, I remember someone saying if you don't hit at least 1500* your not driving the turbo hard enough, mine will hit around 1650 at the track with the race tune.

Ya stock trans just finished the truck week and half ago and wanted to run it to see where it's at. I am going to need a trans but its holding so far.

I have a cell phone video of the 13.3 run I will post up after work!

Where are you reading boost from? Pretty sure factory sensor will only read as high as 31psi or so (don't remember exact number but it's in that ballpark). Beyond that you need a mechanical guage

Race weight?

I went to the scale on Thursday and with me in it full trim they said it was 8260.
Friday night I pulled the spare tire off and my hitch receiver out but had stuff in the cab like back pack and my little costco tool set just in case so I would figure 8150 then without the spare? I ran with a half tank of fuel and the day I weighed the truck I had about 1/4 tank but my gauge drops pretty quick from half to 1/4 so shouldn't of been that much more. I only put about 15 bucks in gas in before running and it bumped it from 1/4 to half.

I am reading from the factory gauge through the edge insight so you may be right.

Very nice man! Solid 575hp! Guarantee with a built trans and some gearing to help out with them tires and you'll be in the 600s

Thanks I was hopping for a 13.9 so it did much better then I expected. I just need to learn how to stage the turbo at the light or find a way to make it spool easier it would take a awhile for it to build anything past 5 psi but I may have a leak somewhere Charlie did say some truck take 30 seconds to spool the turbo up so I might just need to drive it and learn how to use this turbo better.

Just wanted to give an update on the truck. I ran my gearhead tow tune today because I needed to haul my enclosed trailer and it did great the new tune is very clean barely smokes at all and unloaded wot egt's would hit 1300-1400. Loaded the egt's where great while excelerating it would stay about 1100. (Not wot since I was loaded probably 60-75% throttle excelerating) Only time they would get warm was in overdrive at 65-75 below 2200 rpms just a little hill they would try to stay around 1250-1350 so I had to slow down to try and get it to downshift. Also while testing this tune unloaded wot I saw 29 psi so it is running a little less boost then the race tune.

I may consider gearing the truck so I can tow because it would only get warm in od. Also my trans is holding it does need time for each relearn when switching tunes or it goes out of gear but once I put about 100 miles on after switching tunes its fine.

You can try having gearhead move your OD shift point WAY up so you can keep your rpms up. As long as you stay around 2500rpms you should be fine... but with your stock gearing and big tires I would guess 2500rpms puts you at like 80-90mph in OD... so maybe Matt can keep you out of OD longer or have it completely lock out OD when you press the tow haul button

I will have to give that a try because it is fine even excelerating quickly onto the freeway it's just once I get above 55-60 it gets under the turbo and starts heating up. I tried going faster and only got to about 75 but it was still under the turbo so gearing may be in the near future. Excelerating it stays below 1100. Charlie do tow tunes normaly run less boost because I only saw 29 max I tried making my own boost leak detector like yours but the pieces I got from the hardware store I couldn't go more then 5 psi so I couldn't find any leaks. Better flowing manifolds, up pipes, and a cold side intercooler pipe wont help much because it is still under the turbo right? Just help spool it faster in its operating range?

It's been awhile since I've updated this thread. I was having trouble towing with the stage 3 and 190/75 with stock gearing and 35's. I went down to a stage 2 from Charlie at KCTurbos and went down to 190/30 from warren on injectors.

Truck has just under 153k on it now still stock trans I ran it at the track last night and since I moved to Texas I had TSD tune and Dyno the truck few weeks ago.

Fastest time last night was 13.4 @ 100 mph 10 psi launch the others where all 13.5 @ 99

On TSD Dyno it put down 510hp 900something lbs of torque. I think highest torque was 964.

Since running at the track with the stage 3 and 75% injectors I have gone to a heavier wheel and tire set up (toyo m/t's) and also switched from gear heads tune to TSD early lock up tune which I feel gets way more power to the ground with the early lock up plus my trans likes his tunes better being stock.

Here are some videos at the track and Dyno.

sounds like that 68 is kinda laggy ehh?

Not sure where you live but my truck took a huge hit in spool up with these summertime temps in nc. I'm sure charlie and matt will get you figured out.

Ya it is surprising how big of a difference the heat can make.

Here in Az temps quickly hit 100 - 110 degrees even in May. Also the elevation change is huge. You can go from 1000 feet to about 8000 feet in about 1-2hrs... that makes it tough to tow with a bigger turbo and injectors.

I have lots of guys that tow with stage 3 turbos... the ones with smaller nozzle injectors have much better luck... BUT... we never recommend towing with that big of turbo. You really have to keep your rpms up to keep your egts down.

Eric I'm glad you are loving your new setup. I am learning more and more that most guys just want a good solid 550hp setup that can tow with ease... rather than a 600hp+ setup that struggles to tow heavy in altitude. The stage 2 turbos just spool so fast. That thing was running SUPER clean at the track. The video you sent me you could not even see any smoke. Sounds like it is getting plenty of air.
