Funny stuff....LOL

TSB 16-0087 MAY 25 2016

2011 to 2016, with 8ft box and factory hitch may exhibit a vibration or
hopping at 42-70 MPH OR 68-112KM.

Repair.. check on drivers side of the hitch to frame mount, should have
cage damper..if not install one under warranty.
W.... T.... F..... how will that help and what exactly does it do?

Its an elastomeric damper that absorbs harmonics traveling the length of the frame. That rear frame section is like a big tuning fork lol

Hmmmm....I wonder if its the same damper that they tried putting on the F150s and Raptors that have the same vibration?

FWIW, I'll be playing around with the suspension on this truck again, and I'll report back if there's any change. Swapping out the front end for a 4 link to help with sled pulling and at the track, so I'm going to get rid of the front brace and see if it comes back after the radius arms are gone.

They won't do it for short beds.

I also figure this will do very little to prevent the hopping...LOL It will be interesting when people try this out and provide feedback.

UPDATE......spoke with my Ford contact

The dampers are on backorder. There are only 3 dampers in the country.

The dampers are #68 priority in Ford's system. 35 pieces have been air freighted in from Korea on 7/20. And an additional 50 pieces on 8/1.

That is Funny!

They've had this issue for years, and now that they supposedly have a cure, Ford does not have any in stock, funny. There is a thread on Ford Truck Enthusiast that goes back to at least 2011, maybe farther. Thousands of people posting that they have this issue.

I think (yea, i know i dont have one) its a harmonic issue. Thst rear frame section is like a big ***kng tuning fork. The hitch causes it to bind as it cycles and it manifests as a hop but its really just harmonics sympathetic to the vibrations.
