I didn't have the hop on my 2008 F250 supercab longbed 4x4 with either stock tires or my cooper st maxx's . traded it for my 2011 f350 supercab longbed 4x4 with stock tires and now i have the hop in this truck . If the frames are the same between the trucks and the only difference is the newer suspension i would think that is where the problem lies . But this is just my experiences .

I have a friend who has a CCLB leaf spring truck with the 45 mph hop. That has done it since day one. He has had different lift kits and it has been there through all of it....LOL.

I do think that the newer trucks do have softer longer rear leaf springs and it wouldn't surprise me that the front end could be a little softer too. The newer trucks have more axle wrap with these softer springs. So if your entire drivetrain is resonating and you have softer springs you probably are going to feel the hop more then what you would feel in an older truck with stiffer springs.

I am mainly interested in CCLB trucks. The other configurations are a hit or miss. But to go to the dealer and essentially (7) brand new CCLB trucks did it brand new off the lot...LOL. If you fix a CCLB truck then you could fix any of the others.

My truck had a very pronounced 45 mph vibration when something was going wrong with my driveline. I had (1) u-joint going out. I have probably the most extreme braced CCLB superduty out there. I have a huge cradle, front and several braces in the rear. If bracing indeed canceled all that out then I would never have felt it. My entire truck would go up and down and essentially oscillate just like everyone elses. My driveline is not stock either.

Wow ! That is a very impressive setup . Hard to believe that you still have the hop with all the bracing and high dollar shocks . Wonder if any one has consulted a shop like OUO if they know about the issues we are having and if they may have a theory about a possible remedy for it . Forgot to add both truck have/had stock suspensions , The 2011 does have a aftermarket sway-bar and air bags as the previous owner had a slide in camper .

The guys at OUO do know about the hopping. Have done several things to minimize. I was told the best results they've had reducing was some extreme shock valving.

I would like to see some pictures. Thanks

Here are some pics. The paint on the driveshaft is partially dried. I swapped out the rear swaybar for Hellwig Big Wig bar. Waiting to put the truck back on the ground to adjust the end links.

My Fox 2.0s should be here tomorrow.

The leafs are thicker on the DRW

Any chance you could take a picture of the driveline. The end connection, then at the carrier bearing and at the transfer case.

I just saw this. I will get you some pics later today or tomorrow.

Not exactly the same, but I had a 93 dodge, cummins, ex cab long bed drw. Had the same hop. Also came with the notorious rotted out frame. Didnt matter what gear it was in, around 40-50 mph it had the hop. Most noticeable when coasting.

I replaced the rear tranny mounts, they where shot, slight improvement, replaced the driveshaft carrier bearing slight improvement, replaced the rear u joints, slight improvement, and finally the killer was rebuilding the rear end. The pinion bearing was a little loose. I never had that driveshaft balanced.

But if you are saying brand new trucks off the lot are doing it, I am at a loss because all those parts should be good. I would be interested to see if you put 500 pounds of weight in the bed if it didnt clear up. They may have the pinion angle optimized for loaded down (since the axle inevitably does turn as you load a leaf suspension) and when running around empty, its just a little out of perfect. I would be interested in seeing what spring packages did it or didnt do it. I bet the trucks that sit higher in the rear are more likely to have it then the ones that sit lower.

Just my .02

Yep, shock valving makes a huge difference.

Layson and GNXTC2 both of your trucks are so freaken clean I can hardly believe it.
Layson how much suspension lift do you have on your truck ? I see you are running a sub-frame inside your frame rails. Pretty impressive, and it looks to me that GNXTC2 has a auto lift in his garage. lol

Went to the NY Auto Show and there was a 2017 on display. So I laid on the floor and snapped a few pics of the front hangers. Looks like the radius arm mounts were beefed up.

looks like Ford could have spent a bit more focus on the wiring. I doubt that'll last even the most laid back mall crawler long.
