The rear has a thick short leaf spring between the block and the axle...I removed the block and the thick overload spring. You will need new u bolts though.

I removed that already.

Thanks!

5.4 springs on front and the 3 3/4 block in rear removed will put the front about 1" high. I added air bags in the rear for towing and I inflated with 10 psi to level the truck while I wait to see if the 5.4's do settle any. If not I'll cut a little off the coil to bring it down. The ride is really smooth now and strongly suggested if you put a lot of hiway miles on your truck.

Did you guys have to change anything with your driveshafts? I really wanna set mine down.

My guess is no. If the bump stops remain the same the suspension won't compress more so they should be fine. A cut bump stop will more than likely be ok too.

You might need to raise the carrier bearing based on shaft angle.
Yes Mikey I will be towing with a 6.4 now.

With no rear block mine was good but with the bottom.overload spring out I.had to.shorten my driveshaft. Front was good. 5.4 coils and no.rear block should be.good.

Mike... bout time you got a 6.4

I did order the 6000# springs not the 4400#ers. Already towed with it Dustin and it runs nice.

Mikes was definitely a little low in the rear, needed about an inch more out of the front, hopefully his coils settle some.

Is cutting the bump stops as simple as taking a sawzall to the bottom half of the stop and bolting them back on? any tips on length off? kinda getting tired of the slam but still loving the handling

So there is a 6,000 lb rating 5.4L coil spring? I went with the 4400 lb rating and my truck sat lower in the front than it did in the rear with no rear block. It had a noticeable rake to it. I'd be interested in the 6,000 lb blocks if they sit close to stock height up front and ride better than stock.

Holding the new 5.4 6000# springs next to 109K mile OEM springs the length was the same. The initial height was also the same after install so I guess they should settle over time. The 5.4's had one less wind and the wire gauge is also just a bit smaller diameter than the OEM's as well.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I may try them out, especially if the ride is better than the factory coils.
