So I got a twisted stage 2 with the procharged truck I got from my buddy a few years ago. When I put compounds on my other truck I swapped the twisted trans in that truck. It was good untill It started going in to limp mode and flashing tow haul. It also started leaking out the bell housing a little.

So I sent it back to twisted to get fixed and upgraded to stage 3 and new TC. Got it back and put it in the truck. drove it a few miles and It still leaked. So pulled it and sent it back. They had a it for a few months got it back. put it in the truck and guess what, Still leaked. SOOOO I pull it out AGAIN and send it back and installed my spare trans for the ranger. I asked what can we do to ensure that its fixed this time. Buddy said They could put it in a truck and test it. I was satisfied and and waited for it to get done. I Got it back and I had the truck running with the other trans so didnt install it right away then I tore my truck apart to redo the set up so It set for a year.

Fast forward to this week. i hurt the spare trans that was in my truck and I put the twisted in......... and it leaks...... :cursing:

So What are your guys opinions on what is causing it to leak? If I remember correctly they were replacing the front pump seal so I dont think its that. Its coming out of the bell housing and dripping off the bottom of the trans.

I think you kinda sewered yourself by telling them to try it themselves before sending it back to you.

Way to easy for them to say: "it didn't leak when we tried it...it's something on your end now..." And just wash their hands of it.

Is your flex plate wet?
Where is the leak originating from?

Potentially a bad TC to front pump seal?? I presume that the "leak" is indeed tranny fluid right?? Just making sure is all as this is definitely weird.

Unless your TC or pump cover is cracked or not all of the pump bolts are torqued down, there's only 3 possible causes that I think it could be. One would be the pump to case gasket either being bad or not being there at all. Two would be the rubber gasket seal that goes around the outside of the pump. And three would be the seal that the TC slides into when it engages the pump. I would be more inclined to think it is one of the first two possibilities. Either way, I think you're (or somebody is) gonna be stuck pulling the pump and finding out what's behind it, but that'll be a PITA.

Well I sent it back 3 times to fix the issue and its not fixed and I was told they were replacing seals every time. I checked out the seal that the tv slides into and it looks good.

Don't think it's a cracked tc because the tc was replaced the first time I sent it in and the current one only has like 10 miles on it. Because it has never not leaked since the rebuild

I'm going to be making a trip up to Andy Warren on Monday. I'll ask him what he thinks it could maybe be.

The pump bolts also have seals on them. They could be leaking if they are reusing them. Case or pump could be scored and not sealing correctly

When I had trans fluid coming out of the bell housing the pump locked up on me, but the truck wouldn't move at all.

Yeah trans works amazing. No problems with it functioning.

The even crappier part is my 05 has blown head gaskets and was going to pull it in the shop to pull the heads when I got the trans back in this truck.

Are you putting oil or grease onto the seal the cconverter rides on when you install it? Andy told me he's seen seals fry and start leaking because of that.

I agree with Ivan. I wouldn't send it back anymore if they couldnt fix it the first go round. Screw that.

What did they tell you they replaced? I would pull it and replace the large shaft seal at the pump cover, small converter shaft seal, thin paper gasket behind the pump, and the large o ring around the outside of the pump. Around $100. I would send the converter out to get checked while I had it out too if it has some miles on it.

Yeah wasn't planning on sending it back.

is all that something a man with no trans experience could do?

Converter has like 10 miles on it like stated before,

Oops didn't read that sorry.

Ya you could definitely do it. The hardest part is just finding the proper seal R&R tools for the large seal pressed into the pump cover. I just took my cover to ford and had them install it really quick.
