Hey Guys,
I have taken a couple year hiatus from posting and participating in the power stroke forums. I decided that the truck would remain mostly stock after I bulletproofed it as we got a fifth wheel and I daily it and just wanted the reliability.
Stuff that was done in 2012 at 56K miles:
Head Studs, Stand pipes, dummy plugs, bullet proof egr cooler, oil feed and oil drain updates, cleaned turbo, head gaskets, bed plate reseal, heads were machined flat (no cracks). In 2013 the transmission was refreshed with PI converter. All of this was done at the dealer as my buddy was a service writer and used my gold warranty. 50 dollar deductible plus parts. Not bad.
Fast forward to 2015 at 99K miles:
First trip with fifth wheel the tow/haul light flashed the whole way. Turns out the PI converter sh!t the bed. So I put a stock converter back in, its been great since.
Tunes: WPE tow tune I run most of the time towing or not.
Fast forward to 2016 labor day at 115K miles I come home from towing our 11K+ lb fifth wheel and find this below (F*@%!!!!):
Yep cracked stock wheel. Not sure when it happened or how long I towed for like that. Ford says they are discontinued and a true legitimate one out of old stock was over 1300 bux. I see some online that claim to be 500 bux but I don't trust that is a brand new wheel as they are no where to be found according to my local dealer. So I decided it was time to search for new wheels all together. Also since the truck has become weathered over time I figured it was time to put the shelfs full of parts on it I have collected for the last 4 years.
The current plan:
How the poor tattered girl sits now:
1.) Since I tow the fifth wheel a lift was not an option as it would make the trailer nose high, no thanks! It will chuck like a bastard if I do that. SO after all week researching I decided a 20x9 with 0 offset on a 295/60r20 is the way I want to go for no rubbing with no lift (34x11.5). After reading questionable stuff on the cast chinese aftermarket wheels across most brands I decided I wanted a forged wheel if I could find one in my price range. Well I stumbled across some American Forged 20x9 0 offset wheels brand new in the box for $1900, offered the guy $1600, he accepted the rest is history, SOLD!!! Model is justice, pic below:
2.) My stock headlights have become weathered so years ago I picked up a set of harley lights from depot but with clear reflectors as I loved the look. And thanks to the gentleman at retro solutions I picked up some LED headlights and fog lights last year.
Current:
Going in:
I also have some other parts not pictured to go in, mainly a set of power fold/power extend 2012 mirrors. And a gutted stock cat as I think mine is partially clogged. I will add to the thread with updates as I do things and see how bad everyone can pick me apart LOL
