I run amsoil 15w40 and mine grows about a quart every 3500 so i change it right before it starts to grow.

See ^^^^^^oil dilution! All 6.4 have it the more idling the worse it is. The only time I let it idle is when it's only gonna sit for a short period and isn't worth shutting off just to restart in two minutes. And also I don't let it idle cold more than a few minutes unless there is ice that has to be thawed of to drive first. Gentle driving on a cold engine even at 10mph makes the egt go to 4-500deg. Much better than 200.

I agree with that guy it makes heat faster and keeps the fuel dilution out. I sampled my oil the last time I changed it and Cat said the fuel level was fine but had early hour coolant leak so if hes worried about what the engine is doing call Kitty land and get a few sample bottles and sample every oil change.

That's nuts it grows a quart in 3500 miles, mine doesn't fluctuate at 10k with warm ups and cool downs. Every motor is different i guess. I know with the dpf still on fuel dilution is a major problem though.
