6.7 Fuel pump on 6.0?

The 6.4 pumps wiring harness is the same as the 6.0 pump wiring wise.. so if u would use a 6.4 - install is simple ans the wiring aspect of it is plug and play essentially. I'm just giving another option that's more simple than an 6.7 install if wanting to go the factory pump upgrade route

But the 6.4 lift can't be used as a main pump on a 6.0 due to it being rated at 15-20 psi right? I may be wrong thinking that's what its rated at

correct. you cannot use the 6.4 pump as a main pump, only as a lift pump on a 6.0. its actually runs closer to 10psi

Correct^ my 6.4 pump read 8psi out of the box. Not sure if that's correct or not but from what I've read they will be 8-10psi.. just enough though to aid the 6.0 hfcm.

I was referring to it as a replacement for the stock HFCM, if im going to go thru the trouble of replacing a pump and upgrading the system i surely dont want more pieces to the puzzle that can fail.

anyone have any info on whats needed to install the 6.7 pump in a 6.0 as a replacement for the hfcm?

I would think the wiring would work, not the plugs but the circuitry.

Is there any sort of filter incorporated to the 6.7 lift pump ?

You will need independent wiring. The 6.7 lift pump is fed with 14 AWG wire. Yes the pump has a filter in it.

I dont see it being that involved, keyed power just using the factory fuel pump wire to a relay they power to the pump and ground id assume.

You can buy the harness that plugs into the fuel pump connector to switch a relay for aftermarket fuel pumps from strictly diesel. Don't have the link but saw it while looking on there site one day.

Just need a standard bosch style 5 pin relay and some female spade connectors to do it then just the factory plug to the pump.

On the relay you would take the factory power wire for the pump (on my 6.0 it was blue i believe) and connect it to pin 86. This is your signal wire to switch the relay. This will make the new pump turn on/off just like the factory pump.

You will need to ground pin 85. Connect this to a good ground.

You will then need to supply battery power to pin 30, you should have a fuse or circuit breaker in between the battery and relay.

Then you will have power supply out connected to pin 87, this will be the power to go to the 6.7 pump.

That is how i would wire it atleast, ive had my fuelab pump wired like this for over a year.

So is the idea to use the 6.7 pump as an upgraded pump? Instead of something like an A1000? By switching to the 6.7 pump and it's filtration system can the stock upper fuel filter be eliminated?

Yes the 6.7 would be its own pump. From what Greg at MPD says it holds pressure just fine on their 280's in their test truck.

I think you would still have to keep the upper filter since the filter in the pump is a water seperator and the upper is the fuel filter.

This is the second filter for the 6.7. I don't know when you buy the 6.7 pump if this comes with it. I doubt it. So you can use this instead of the 6.0 top filter if you have a regulated return.

If you have a RR that dosent delete the upper bowl you can just use it instead of buying fittings for the 6.7 upper filter. The 6.7 pump has the water separator in it just like the stock 6.0 pump does

Correct if using the 6.0 upper filter now. I plan on making my own regulated return, so when I do it I'm going to use the 6.7 upper filter and get rid of the 6.0 fuel bowl all together.
