Hey Guys! I really need some help.

In October I made a post about a hot start issue I was having. When the motor was warm it would take 10-15 seconds to start. With the cold winter I haven't had any time to track down my issue. It's been below zero the majority of the winter.

I've noticed a few other weird symptoms while driving the truck the last few months. Such as:
-Rough idle, gets worse when in park.
-Rough high idle (I've had the driveshaft balanced, new tires, and the crank & flexplate were balanced together when motor was rebuilt)
-I seem to peg my EGT's too quickly. With 3/4 throttle in 30 degree weather my EGT's will climb to 1600 degrees in my economy tune. (Bad atomization?)
-Hard start when engine is warm. (This symptom only shows up if it's warmer than 50 degrees outside.)
-When truck is at operating temp and idling I notice a slight whitish-blue haze coming from the exhaust. I really only notice this when parked under the lights at the gas station.
-My ICP pressure seems to be a little low, running around 2400 @ full throttle.

Do you think all these issues are stemming from a High Pressure leak somewhere? Any leak down testing techniques to help pinpoint this?
I finally have a warm place to work on the truck and want to get this problem fixed once and for all.

Thanks so much guys,

Andrew

Almost sounds like a compression issue to me. How much blow-by do you get? How many miles? Miles on injectors?

whos injectors are they? i had to send my injectors back a couple times to get them right this past summer. Mistakes can happen on machining and sometimes takes a second look on a set to get them right.

They are from Full Force Diesel. I could see the injectors being part of the problem. Will they fix them free of charge?

Talked to the friendly people at Bean's on the phone today. They think it is an injector issue. They doubt it's the HPOP but they didn't rule it out.

If they are our injectors we will gladly take a look for you if you want to send them in. Do me a favor though, get it hot and then see if it has a hard start, if it does pour water on the HPOP and try to restart it right away. You can always give me a call too! 615-962-8291.

This is why I will purchase another set of your injectors!

Im assuming the cold.water will contract the warm metal in the hpop and reduce the tolerances and if it starts working again when cool, the pump needs to be sent in.

Did it run good when you first installed the injectors?

How is your fuel system set up?

This^. Been there, done that. Not saying its his issue, just something to try before pulling the injectors.

It's had these problems since I installed the injectors :(
I just blamed air in the system the first 100 miles. After that I became suspicious!

I gave you guys a call Friday, I got voicemail! I'll try again Monday! I really do appreciate your willingness to help!

I got the truck warm, turned her off, poured water on the HPOP, and started it back up. Might have sped up the start by a second. Being that it was only 40 degrees outside the hot start issue wasn't very prevalent.
I will try again this week. I probably wont get around to pulling anything off the truck until the end of this week.

Yeah, sorry we were at Rudy's event and left Friday mid-day.

No problem! I understand! I'll be giving you a call tomorrow!
I also have a OBS turbo sitting in my garage if you are interested. Read on your FB page that you guys are looking for turbo cores?

On another note:
I've read 4 or 5 horror stories about the SRP 1.1 in the '7.3 Aftermarket' section. Some with the same problems I am having, rough idle and runs like ****.
I would hate to throw away this pump. I would also hate to have the truck down for weeks/ months again waiting for Gary to fix and/ or replace it.
It took gary 2 months to ship me the pump when I first bought it. When I placed my order he ensured me he had plenty sitting on the shelf...

What's another reliable and reasonably priced pump that will push my 300/200's?
