I'd say driveability concerns and money are big limiting factors. It sure would stink to have $15000 or probably more in a setup and it be a laggy non fun turd. Like the musclecar era was(big cams and tunnel rams) with high stall converters that suck to drive daily.

Sure, there is that sneaky little dude with something special hiding under the hood, but they are few and far between. Heck, in east TN, I still hear plenty of edge and bullydog stuff. It's the one's that just grin and don't talk much you have to be scared of.

15k is a pretty high number for a 700hp setup unless your considering trans studs and other supporting mods. A decent twin kit can be put together for much less.

You gotta factor/consider the trans upgrade and other supporting mods to make that 700hp. If you are starting out with a truck that has just the basics(intake, exhaust, tuner)....it's gonna take 15K or more to make 700hp.

I dont know how much I could put a twin setup together for but lets say $6k, then I would have to build my trans (probably) $5k, then $3k for injectors, and $1k for fuel system and other odds and ends. Add it all up and BAM $15k easy.

Well I would submit to you that probably most folks who attempt to tackle this feat would need some supporting mods...if anything at least a WELL built tranny.

I would think most people looking for 700hp have already been at/surpassed the 500-550 barrier. Which requires most of what's needed, studs, Egr delete, injectors, tuner, a happy trans

Let's face it...add up all the money you put into your truck for POWER, and it adds up fast.
Supporting mods really doesn't apply for twins, because it's a package deal...you need the transmission, injectors, turbos, custom exhaust, custom piping for the twins, tuning, gauges, fuel system, etc...

You can't just buy $3000.00 worth of turbo's and say: "I have twins!"

Add it up...it's at LEAST 15K.

Yeah, I was meaning the whole package From head studs to u joints and everything in between. It doesn't seem as bad if done over time(one big purchase every 6 months to a year) and the somewhat smaller stuff in between. Just head studs, good valve job, porting heads, and tranny can be around the 10k mark easily. Then come the chargers and injectors(which will be a few thousand at least.

Threads like these got me to join over here, since you guys are getting into the more advanced topics, and not just the what tuner and what exhaust threads that a simple search would answer 10 fold.

Why's that? I had it done when I had studs put in. It helped out some with spoolup and throttle response. Nothing otherworldly, but for what I paid to have it done, I couldn't gripe.

Now did the extra power come from the porting....or from just getting all the sludge build up out of the manifold and head ports from not having a CCV re-route, and EGR delete done since day one?

I paid $400 and a case of beer for the job. Nice to have a machinist for a friend. I have heard over $1000 is common. For what it done, I would not have paid that.

There was a bunch of crap in the runners, alot for 45k miles I thought. but, there was a decent amount of metal removed, he also just done a cleaning up of things.

I couldn't tell any top end difference at all, but throttle response picked up a considerable amount. I figured while he had the heads, why not. GOGO's intake helps out alot, why not finish the route to the combustion chamber?
