Well I went ahead and got a water pump. I've started living by the old phrase: It's always something....... Never fails I can't seem to catch a break. But anyways I have a few questions/complaints haha.
First I pulled the old pump off after wrestling with the fan clutch nut for prolly a good three hours and three different fan clutch tool kits rented from two different parts stores. And when I pulled the bolts out of the pump that attatch it to the front cover, two of them had oil on them. Is this a problem? It seems like it's a problem should they have access to oil? Do I have a really big problem about to rear its head? I don't have any coolant in the oil, or haven't yet, and the coolant I took out looked clean? I have read about the 6.9's needing sealer on some of the bolts is this the same with the psds?
Second, I went to put the pulley back on the pump after getting it all put together, and I notice that after tightening down the bolts, the thing wont turn. Come to find out they changed the pump, and the part behind where the pulley attaches to the pump is larger in diameter and the bolts are coming through the plate and hitting the actual housing on the pump keeping it from turning. I don't know what to do for sure get washers? Find shorter bolts? It's really frustrating and just goes to show, IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!
Thanks in advance,
Nick
