I haven't had time to mess with the truck in a few weeks but I have a question. The pipes on both sides of the turbo are still off. Will it start like that? I left them off in case I had to pull the valve covers again.

actually the parameter in the pcm only needs 125 rpm to fire the injectors and should start with 450 psi of icp but spec is 500psi. sounds as if you have worn out injectors, either plug in the block heater to warm the engine and retry, or pull the valve covers and pull the coils off the top of the injectors get a 0.0015" feeler gauge and see if it slides under the armature with no drag, if it is tight then your injectors are worn. usually you can determine this by the sound of the injectors on a buzz test (louder is better)

have these tests been done?

I have plenty of icp but have not checked the injectors with a feeler gauge. I will try to do that this weekend. Thanks. I'm still stuck on the idea it had to be running before when the previous owner rolled it. But I dont know how long it sat before I bought it.

Most if not all of the injectors have about .001" clearance. .0015 is either real tight or won't go at all. Also it seems one side of the armature has more clearance than the other on some. If I understand correctly this is from wear on the poppet and seat. What are they machining to reagain the clearance? Is it the armature spacer or the bottom of the part the armature sits on? I have also read from one sight that this is just a band-aid and the injector is junk at this point but it seems that most machine and rebuild.

Truck is running finally. I made and installed .002 shims to put under the injector armatures.
