Only way you could crack it is if there was trash in the threads of the hole or you over torque it, one stud brand to another or what they are made of won't make a difference in that. Beside you would more likely crown the hole before you crack the block.
There have been several thousands of ARP's installed without issue, if someone cracks a block its more than likely installer error. Besides the final pass torque on the ARP's has been lowerd with the new lube.
