Right now I'm running a powermax with a mtw single plane billet wheel and 175/stock sticks. I know a fixed geometry turbo would suck with a standard so what would be a good turbo? I also have a go go diesel intake manifold and can still hit 1500 degrees at wot. Need some advice.

Go up to a 66. Have the tuning adjusted. That should cure alot of the EGT. You could try adding some water injection.

I'm running a barder 68mm with my 6speed. 205/100s, rr, ported intake manifold with all of the egr crap cut out. Etc. etc. I still need to have it tuned, but it runs pretty well.

Finally!!!! Someone else with a 6 speed with the same question I have hahaha. I've actually been thinking of going with a non vgt. Talked to another member on here with a s363 he said it spools great. But divided T4 up pipes really help and of course tuning

2005 F250 6.0 powerstroke, 6 speed manual, egr delete, arp head studs, new oil cooler, aftermarket coolant filter, custom intake, 4" down pipe into dual 6" stacks, 8" lift, TSD super panty dropper tune.

1500egts at WOT on a race tune??? That is perfect! Most tuners use that as a baseline for power. Are you worried about egts or just looking for more power.

If you go any bigger you will lose bottom end and it will be more noticeable with a 6sp. There is no way around it. Some turbos might be better than others but the turbo lag does get worse with larger turbos. You can change your driving habits and spend as much time as you can above 2200 rpms and that will help... but without having an automatic you will notice turbo lag off the line.

I have had guys go from an s366 to a stage 3 68mm and I had one guy go from a stage 3 68mm to an s366... all of them noticed that the s366 was much laggier. They all had auto trannies and tuning really helped... but did not make it go away.

If you just want more power then get a bigger turbo. But if you are worried about having a laggy setup then continue to do your research.

On another note... you could always do a small compound setup and have the best of both worlds

I thought about compounds but I really like keeping it "simple" under the hood... I do want more power but can't sacrifice losing the truck for a lengthy time or the possibility of losing drivability. I kinda want to try a 66 or one of mtws turbos. So 1500 degrees isn't to bad? How about when I'm cruising around in the hills I am in the 9s at about 70mph. To be honest the whole standard thing was fun for about 2 years now I'm over it, you can't bang the gears fast enough to drag race and it's just a lot of spooling with every gear change. How bout anyone else with the standard? How you like it?

Lol I'll swap you trans if you're tired of it. I'm looking to swap mine to a ZF6

I'm opposite. I like my zf6, but I would like to go to a built 5r and would LOVE. To go to a 4r set up!

Sometimes I wish I could
Have a auto but I love shifting and being in control of my trans. Besides a 6.0 with a zf6 is pretty rare.

I couldn't agree more. Hence why I'm currently looking for a zf6 swap

Not to mention I just think a 6.0 sounds better with a stick. Call me crazy but that's just me.

I totally agree I've always thought they sounded a little different. And besides a good clutch kit is a lot cheaper than a built auto

1500egts on a short burst using a race tune is just fine.

1500egts towing a big load up a hilll for long extended periods will cause problems.

900egts cruising around at 70mph in the hills is not bad... 900egts cruising at 70mph on flat ground would seem a little high (but still ok). But keep in mind... usually with bigger turbos your cruising egts will actually go up because the bigger turbo is running less efficient down low. It will bring down your high end racing egts a little bit.

I loved it for awhile but plowing in the winter is a real pain. Not to mention a dual disk clutch can make for a long day. I would swap but theres a lot of work to swapping and not that I don't live a challenge, I just can't be down the time it would take me. Anyone running the rcd 66mm?

How's the feel of a dual disk compared to stock?
