OK after educating myself on the location (and identification) of these parts ...
I pulled the plug off the ICP sensor (injection control pressure sensor)
and indeed it was full of oil .... while I didn't have a puddle in the engine valley, I could clearly see oil residue in the vicinity...
stopped by the dealer and picked up a new (F6TZ-9F838-A) ICP sensor.
new one has a big 1-1/6 nut instead of the stock 5/8"
much easier...
truck started up normally... runs probably the same... ( my hopeful imagination thinks it sounds smoother but I'm probably wrong)
anyway....
taking it to work tonight.... it usually throws the "engine light" after it's been sitting for a while.... so we will see... fingers crossed.
as far as the EBP sensor and tube, the dealer has one in stock.... nice SS ...
didn't ask the price... my azz still hurts from the ICP
besides, the bottom nut looks like a real ball buster.... especially with my old style fisher plow frame...
I may have to tackle it from the top....
but yeah... I'd bet it's clogged or semi rotted....
maybe this weekend...
stay tuned...
thanks for the help.
