Are you guys doing this because your trucks are running hot or?? Just curious, I thought about making a kit for my 7.3SD just to see how it would compare.

I like the idea of relocating the trans cooler, nicely done.

The only time mine gets over 200*F is when I do a couple wot runs in a row. Normal driving, it never gets over 185-190*F
Moving the transmission cooler instantly gets rid of the heat that would have been passed through to the intercooler. And it uses parts that I had laying around the shop. (Cleaning up)

Great looking setup! Have you compared OAT/IAT1/IAT2 readings before and after??

If this is to me, no...my truck will be down/parked till spring.

any pics of where you have your tranny cooler mounted?

do you have a build thread i missed?

I can try to get some at a later date. I'm off with a back injury right now, so nothing happening at all. It's mounted where the spare tire was, and back towards the rear bumper...fits perfect, and at a slight angle.

What I started to do this winter is still being kept quite until I see how well it works...but as soon as I started, I kept getting deeper and deeper...changing this and that...just making more work for myself.

Well in my case, I needed to get rid of the factory fan altogether...all the extra weight hangin off the pump...almost impossible to change a belt with the factory fan in place...
And without the fan there, it just cleans up the engine bay a whole bunch.

Agreed. Not exactly the same idea, but figured this was a good place for it. I like the setup you came up with.

Got a picture of the transmission cooler under the truck.

Don't get dizzy.

You can't see any of it when you look across the bottom of the rear.

Looks great! How hard was it to relocate the lines and the inline filter?

The lines are still run to the radiator and the inline filter.
I am cutting into the return line to the transmission, and running 1/2" stainless tubing all the way back, through another filter, then the cooler, then back to the transmission.

Haven't done that yet, as my back is still buggered up.

Wow, that's an interesting setup. Do you drive this truck in the winter at all? I can't imagine that lasting through one of our winters here.

Negative Ghostrider...I see no point in thrashing an 800hp truck through a winter of salt, slush, water, and snow.

It sits during the winter for me to make changes to it.

It's dirty because the last time I drove it, it was back in November, i think, from the transmission shop after having a new torque converter and billet flex plate installed AFTER I just had a new transmission installed while in Edmonton.
