What's the story on those pistons? I haven't seen anyone mention Mahle before. I am going to be in this same boat one of these days lol.

Ford 6.4 pistons are made by Mahle. I was told.
And I had them in my recent rebuild
Either Maxxforce 7 pistons
Or delipped mahle’s
Can go ceramic coated too I did!

Mahle makes the OEM pistons and the Maxforce 7's. These are the Maxforce 7's, but I did not have them coated. Being the Maxforce 7 the dome shape is slightly different and the lip is much smaller than stock.

What makes a guy go with maxx 7 over delipped stockers?

I chose these based on the good I have heard about them over stock. I couldn't find a single person that has seen one crack. Delipped stock may be equally as good but I felt better going this route. I was tempted to have them coated as well, but for my needs I didn't feel it was needed. I am not racing or pushing horse power limits, I am just wanting a strong running truck that will tow with ample power dependably.

Could you find anyone that has cracked a delipped stocker? Thanks for all the info btw :)

You wont find a cracked delipped stocker im sure lol.
The maxxforce 7 and Mahle pistons are the same...
Just different bowls for fuel atomization for emissions. Thats all. Same deal man. You can go with either.. i chose ceramic coating because in the event of a fuel spray outside the fuel bowl it is less likely to erode/melt down. Whichever’s cheaper that the point you buy them. Is the one I would go with!

Like Roccafellas said, both are made by Mahle and neither have cracked from what I have found. The difference is in the bowl design.

Are delipped stockers a updated ford part? If a guy bought a reman short block or pistons from ford do you get those? Or aftermarket only?

Aftermarket only. Buy stock pistons and get them machined.

What gets machined? Flycut? Or just take the lip off, as in put it in a lathe and machine it strait down? Not that I would do this, just curious.

the lip gets machined off. cut straight down into the bowl. nothing to do with fly cutting.

Last question I promise lol.
Are delipped stockers from a vendor just machined stock pistons or did mahel build pistons without the lip? I thought I had this figgered out until I was shopping around lol

Stock pistons that have been machined. Personally I would recommend Maxxforce 7 pistons as the cold start characteristics are much better.

Picked up the block Friday and spent the weekend assembling. Didn't get the rear seal from the dealer and ran short on lube for the studs so I didn't get it back on the chassis yet, but it's close. Sure feels good to finally be going back together.
