I just picked up my first diesel ever in my 2000 excursion rwd. I'm no stranger to power but spent a lot of time working in the LS field. My truck is totally stock and has around 200k on it. So far I've done preventative maintenance: oil and filter change, fuel filter change, diff fluid, etc. This is my DD firing the winter but as its started getting cold here, it's not running right.
At maybe 20-30% throttle it feels (in a gas engine) one of the spark plugs stops working. It loses power and there's a noticeable hiss but not like an air leak.
Trying to figure out some diagnostic steps to help clear up this issue.
Also, I want to add a bit more power and was wondering what you all would recommend and in what order. I'd like to keep stock driveability and try to keep the total spend under $3k.
Thanks for being kind and for having thins great forum. I just joined but I've been lurking reading articles for about a month now.
