What are the major differences between these motors.

I might be buying one out of a school bus. I couldnt get it to start before battery died, but everything is super clean and it has 148xxx miles on it.

Im just curious to know what the differences are between the injectors, turbo, front stuff on the belt, and so on.

Injectors are the same, turbo's are different, timing covers are different, HPO res are different, wiring harness is different, and motor mounts are different.

What do you mean motor mounts are different. I didnt really pay attention to mine when it was out, but if i buy this bus motor, well its kinda like a van but point being will it fit in without any problems.

I am swapping all my stuff onto this motor tho, so everything will be off my current blown up motor. I just dont want any suprises when it comes time to drop it back into the truck.

My bus motor has like a big mount on the front of the block, and then there are 2 mounts on the back of the trans adapter, whereas our trucks have mounts on the side of the block. But if its a Ford van then they should have the same mounts.

Now everything should swap over perfectly. I actually had a friend that just put a bus 7.3 into his truck, and everything swapped over fine for him. Just take pictures of the old motor and swap parts over to the new one.

Yeah, Im pretty sure its a short ford van bus thing. So it should all work.

Cant wait, now its time to find someone with a trailer to haul it here.

It reminds me of back in my highschool years, when George (the bus driver) yelled at me everyday for licking the window, and drawing wieners in the frost, and drooling on myself. So im getting it to help coop with my lousy friends. :poke:

Im just getting the motor, but had an oppurtunity to get the whole thing for my jasper. But dad didnt want it on his property, i was going to scrap whole thing anyway. But its just something to get the ole girl back on the road so i can harrass deer again, and people on the way to the gym.

If its a short bus with the van front end and 99.5 plus-
One of the manifolds is different and I believe the uppipes are also. But people have put the IH bellowed f series uppipes in a van and they fit fine.

The turbo will be non wastegated with a 1.15 turbine housing and slightly bigger exhaust wheel.

Non intercooled.

Oil cooler is different.

Engine harness is different.

Motor mounts are different.

But basically everything will unbolt and your truck stuff will bolt on to get it in your truck.

If it looks like it will be a good runner, don't hesitate to buy it just because it is coming out of a van. You can put the turbo on here for 275 and it will be gone quick.

Well we couldnt get it to start. It turned over really easy but being it sat for some time and was could out, and probably needed ether to get it to start. I backed out and he dropped the price again so i bought it.

Where is the idm at on these things. Once we got the motor out i ran, it was horrible to get the motor out. The turbo was really tight and the radiator was brand new. So im hoping this will start once i put all my stuff on it.

Kool thanks.

Also one more quick thing, i noticed that the driver side exhaust manifold looks different and the oil cooler looks different. Will it fit into a truck without any problems or do i have to change those as well.

Swap your truck mounts/oil cooler/manifolds/ext over.

My buddy put a 00 E350 van engine into his truck. Just had to swap the pickup parts over to it.

Ok. But can i put it in without doing the manifolds and oil cooler. I would rather not change stuff if it will still work. Just trying to get this on the road fast. If it wont work thats fine, itll just take more time to change over.
