If you do end up having to swap the oil cooler out I wouldn't use the one of your old block. You should be able to visually check stuff out for compatibility. Can you compare them with one another and swap the differences?

I was hoping to leave the oil cooler and exhaust manifolds alone even IF they may be different, if they fit without problems then i would swap my stuff over and be back on the road.

If they are different, and WONT work then i will end up getting a new oil cooler and use the exhaust manifolds off of my spare motor sitting here since they look brand new. And i will have to use the oil pan too since the bus pan is rusted some what.

I think it will drop in with the van cooler and manifolds, not 100% on that. The truck cooler might not fit in the van. Oil pans are the same. Front cover is the same. Motor mounts are different in that they won't work in the truck....;) 3 bolts ea I think.

Ok. Here is what i have now.

I took everythingoff that needed to come off.

There was moisture under the valve covers, i had to take the water pump out since i could get the fan off it self, and good thing i did because it looks like the blades on the pump were rubbing on the housing for sometime now.

Need some advice on wether or not i should get a water pump from ford or advance auto parts.

Then i need to know what stuff works best for gaskets, such as using it on the oil pan and the intake plenums.

Im hoping someone could answer these by morning so i can keep the progress moving along and get my wheels back on the road this week, hoping by tuesday at the latest.

I had no problems with an airtex water pump. Don't know if advance sells them. Gray death from ford or ih for sealing the pan and plenums. Pricey but worth it. Do you have aftermarket plenums? Why are you removing them?

Well the more i dig into this the more im worring.

Reason i took them off isthis motor is a 95. So looks like i have to take the whole front cover off now since the hpop gasket is different as well. Im pretty screwed right now seems like.

Will thegrey death work for all the front gaskets too?

And im reusing my plenums with riffraff inserts in them.

Why is that. This motor is just a temporary get back on the road type thing. So i hope it can handle around 400hp for a little while at least. And i already have this motor stripped down and almost ready to throw my stuff on. Doing a compression check tomorrow, if that falls through thenim taking it back to where i got it from.

More meat on a 96+ block then a 94-95.

94.5-95

96+

Might never be an issue but, it's just something I wouldn't bother with for a build.

For those prices, i can build 30 of them out of steel, laser cut and welded. So yea i will make my own, or modify the old ones.

What else is different that i need to know about before i burn this POS down.

Im using the grey death from ford for all my gasket needs, i guess.

Motor mounts need chaged.

Whole front cover needs changed.

WHat should the compression numbers be, for a 95 with 148xxx miles, roughly.

I hope the oil cooler doesnt need moved, that might be the last straw before i have a break down and quit.
