Exhaust popping noise

I’m going to compression test tomorrow and see what I come up with, like you guys stated I’m pretty positive it’s got a bad exhaust valve. What kind of damage do you usually find?

For sure cracked valve. I’d recommend replacing both heads. But you could probably get away with doing a valve job and replacing all exhaust valves if cost is an issue.

Like the 6.4s. I'm not seeing many of these engines make it passed 200k without a catastrophic failure(not including fuel system)

Yuup.

Mainly in service applications. The engines are not holding up to industrial use.

I believe the picture above is showing at least 2 cracked exhaust valves.

Hope that is not the case, my 2014 is at 185K now.

So far I have had some aftertreatment issues, but thermostat housing leak is the only other thing it has gotten fixed.
Oh, it blew a cooler boot off one day it is still running with a cheapo hose clamp on it.

Trans acts funny but keeps hanging in there.

Dam man! Figured valve train issue. But Thats crazy. Is it dereeted? Or all factory in tact parts?

Does it make a difference if its stock or dereeted? Cracked valves usually means heat issues.

Same exhaust valve in each cylinder too. Does it always seem to be the valves in the particular location in the head?
