It's a super clean 2004 F-250 XLT with 117k miles. I bought the truck to drive everyday and tow my Mustang to the track. I bought the truck knowing that I need to bullet proof it ASAP. It will be winter time when I get around to it. Untill then I sure hope she holds up. Now when the bullet proofing is done I want a reliable truck that tows well and is fairly quick.....of course the quicker the better but don't wanna sacrifice towing or daily driving. Now on too the true meaning of bullet proofing and the plans I have. I made a similar thread on powerstroke.org. some of the same members may be in here maybe not but the more advice and opinions are greatly appreciated as I am new to the diesel world. Plan below when the bullet proofing is being done.

Cold Air-S&B or AFE?
ARP headstuds
OEM headgaskets
Heads checked
Injectors checked?
Blue spring?
EGR ******- IPR or?
Coolant filter-IPR or?
New updated OEM oil cooler
5" straight pipe exhaust -Diamond Eye or MBRP
X4 Tuner with custom tunes from? CTS2 monitor or?
FICM- tune also?
New Hpop?
KC turbo?

Let me know if they're is anything you guys would add or do differently ? I have only been researching for about a week. Thanks guys!

Yes sir get with Jeremy@nolimit and he will get you fixed up. I went from a s&b with a kc stage 2 to a no limit and noticed a huge difference.

What's your supporting mods? Hell what's your full list? Lol. KC Stage 2 is for sure on my mind. Any dyno #'s?

Kc stage 2
190/30 injectors
Studs
New heads from ford
Fass 200gph fuel system
Pse regulated return
Sinister hot&cold side piping
GH tunes
No limit intake (pro guard filter on the way)
And probably a few things I forgot haha.
No dyno numbers yet, but the truck feels strong for sure.

Sounds like a real solid list. I'm sure it flies. What's GH tunes? Did you do EGR ****** or coolant filter?

GH stands for Gear head tunes. Got it. What kind of coolant filter did you go with?

I use a dieselsite coolant filter, they were the original design. I used a river city diesel egr ****** as well, but they all serve similar functions. If you have the cab off you may want to think about new up-pipes, seems like once guys dig in and start swapping turbos and doing the EGR deleet that the factory flex sections start cracking. MBRP makes a nice relatively inexpensive setup.

If you want your factory injectors gone over, send them to Rykan at Holders Diesel. I think it's around $300 to have them checked over and flow tested. He can also upgrade yours at that time too for more money if you wish.

Do you have a link for the up pipes ? What about down pipes ? More than likely I'll upgrade injectors but that's to be determined yet.

A 190/30 setup with a kc stage 2 is an awesome towing combo. I had no issues towing a 38ft fifth wheel toy hauler with it. It dynoed at 614hp with some water meth, with 12.68 @ 106 track slips yo back up the dyno. Fuel only put it at 588/999 on the dyno. These were on IDP Xtreme X tunes. And i will second the Holders suggestion.

I have a welded up egr cooler, for inspection purposes and egr valve is still in, again, for inspection. I am running an XDP coolant filter. Working on these things every day, the sinister and xdp style coolant filters are the easiest.to take the truck back apart, as some have a big ass spacer and a nut and bolt that bolt the filter housing to the intercooler, instead of using the factory intercooler bolt.er

I would also recommend yhe no limit intake, and instead of the blue spring, do yourself and your injectors a favor and do a regulated return. Strictlys returns fit really nice, and if you put an aftermarket pump on as well, yhe fuel bowl derete is awesome. I would recommend o ringing the heads while they are off for cheap insurance.

+1 to all of this. I tow a 16k# 33ft fifth wheel all over for work. Sorry I've been in training all morning so it's been hard to get all this info wrote up on here. Check out some sponsors on here they all will pretty much everything you need just check out their website. Also get with Charlie and he can get your turbo and injectors done for you iirc. Tunes are different for everyone so I recommend trying different ones from different people until you find the one that fits your driving habits.

I also have a a bulletproof diesel 6phase ficm set to 53v, and soon doing a atlas 40 ficm tune as well.

Also look into a converter and built Transmission so that is one less thing to worry about later on down the road, but I will say it is surprising what the 5r can handle.

588/999 Fuel only is extremely solid. With the SCT X4 can I change tunes on the fly? Meaning if I am driving down the road can I switch tunes? I have the X3 for my Mustang (2013 5.0) and to switch tunes it takes a couple minutes and can't be done on the fly. How much does having the heads O-ringed cost? I plan on having them done while they are off. I will for sure look into a return style fuel system.....thanks guys keep the advice coming.

No the 6.0 does not have shift on the fly capabilities. If you are getting a x4 get an edge insight to monitor your deltas.

Edge insight is the one I like does it matter CTS or CTS 2? Bummer about not being able to switch tunes on the fly. I got on strictly website .....which return style fuel system you guys recommend? There is a few on there. Also somebody said to replace my up pipes? What about down pipe? I am gonna do a 5" straight pipe .

A 5in diamond eye comes with a 4in downpipe. Do the driven diesel and if you plan to do the fass system at the same time get the fuel bowl ****** regulated return I wish I would've went that route. Go with the cts2

5" Diamond Eye is what I want so that's great. Will also go with CTS2 combined with X4. I can't get that link you posted to work? Looks like the Fass systems go for about $600.
