The factory heat shields do suck. and are probably the majority of the noise. I always remove them and replace them with soft heat blankets. Having the soft shields really helps with access since you dont have to pull the turbos to access the top of the pump if you have a line or leak issue. Ill get some pics up of them later.

Hey mike. Pm me a price on a soft shield. Do you just poke your bolt holes through?

I'm interested as well. I would much rather remove the heat shields altogether and put something in the place of them rather than do away with everything and go back stock.

I've been running no heat shield since may last year and have out about 15,000 miles on with no issues. Just ditch the heat shield all together like Craig said. The pump is shielded by the pump cover.

Very interesting. I would probably add a heat blanket just to be on the safe side, but it's nice to know there are guys running no heat shields without any problems.

I just use the heat blanket material from napa to make them. Then use the existing studs on the intake and pump cover to hold it down. You probably would be ok with no covers. But with how much radiant heat is under the hood on these trucks I like to keep the lines and pump covered.

Not worried about heat the lines on the heat shield as i no longer have one. I think ill probaby get the clamps just to be safe, then ill go ahead and heat shrink the lines when the dual fueler goes on.

I run one half of tgr heat shield I can still remove both lines cab on with the high pressure in place. It's surprising how well the radient heat doesn't transfer even inches away.

We tried cutting the shield but (tough to cut) it was putting out some nasty white powder like dust every where so we stopped ( no mask ) and went with a blanket shield.

Jeff a small pry bar and some effort and the shields can come out with the up pipes still on the turbos. Did it to mine but the shields are garbage after.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not too worried about the damage the shields have once they're off. I just want them off.
