correct me if im wrong but shouldnt a filter be ran after the pump to catch anything in case the pump decides to throw some shavings downstream? Ive never heard of this happening, but wouldnt it be cheap insurance?

yeah, but I dont really care about my own truck and too lazy to change anything. I use the dahl 150 or 200 with 2 micron pre pump and a 10mic fuelab post pump when i build systems.

can you skin a cat with a meat cleaver and a sword? Sure can, same results? probably.

The flow rates are different and so are the micron ratings. The dahl is meant to be be pre pump (suction side) and filters best there, and it is also a water separator. You dont want water getting to the pump. The post pump 10 micron filters, filter just as well as any "2 micron" filter i've tried post pump.

I just can't see it being as efficient as those CAT filters, but I guess it's only there in case the pump lets go.

I drew fuel from two buckets with contaminated fuel through a fuelab and an a1000.

Setup one with a dahl 2 micron before the fuelab
Setup 2 baldwin water sep through the a1000 then through a cat 2 micron

The test results were VERY similar from lab results, and they both held equal pressure suction wise and pressure side. To me its a no brainer to use the dahl. There is a reason why elite, dieselsite etc all use them.

2 micron dahl 150/200 pre pump and a 10 micron fuelab/aeuromotive filter post pump and you will have a great filtration setup.

Let me know if you want to look at my setups. I have an A1000 system. Comes with pickup, prepump 10micron fuel/water sep and post pump 2 micron post pump. I can set it up however you want.

The DAHL filter/separators are only rated at 25 psi.
So I'm sure if they saw 60 psi, there would be fuel spraying everywhere.
The DAHL's are on the suction side of things, not the pressure side.
The post pump filters we use are rated for the high fuel pressures we ask of our systems.
And, they have the flow capabilities not to hinder the flow/pressure some require.

My fp was dropping down to 10psi after I got my 225s with my airdog. So I switched to a a1000 with pre and post filters with a sump. I can hold 70psi at WOT now
