Okay, so here's where we're at so far. Got the bed back on and still need to make some height adjustments on the rear. However, I think it looks pretty good so far. We'll pull the bed back off this week, readjust the suspension (I think putting the longer rear shackle back in ought to do it) to level it out better, shim the axle for correct pinion angle, and then get the traction bars installed. Anyway, here's the pictures with the new wheels and the bed back in place. Enjoy!

Thanks. It's been a really fun project so far and besides, it gives me something to get my son involved with. He's been really digging working on the truck and pretty soon he'll be old enough to drive it. :D

I bet he will have fun driving that! Do you know what it would take to lower a leaf spring truck? I have an 04 and I'm wanting to lower it down and go back to 33's just not sure how I would go about doing that.

Lowering a leaf spring truck is usually accomplished by using specially arched springs (lowering springs) to drop the frame in relation to the axle. Bell Tech makes lowered leaf springs and I'm sure a number of other companies do as well. They're usually about 150 per spring.

Big Bend Open Road Race. - http://www.bborr.com/

Of course, that is providing we got our entry form in fast enough. Only 160 slots open and people were faxing at 12:01 AM. I'm hoping we get in, but they haven't released the list yet. We'll see....

We'll have 5 of them. 3 in cab and 2 external. The 3 in cab will be (1) Passenger corner facing back to record driver and navigator, (2) center of back window facing forward to record roadway, and (3) driver's window to record PID Monitor and IC Gauges. The two outer will be (1) driver's back fender facing forward and (2) roof facing backwards.

Will have PLENTY O' FOOTAGE!

please take that stack and smash it, does not do the truck justice at all. other than that, the truck looks great!!

Trust me... I'm right there with you. I'm no fan of stacks and have stated as much in the past. However, given what we're using the truck for (lots of racing), we had to make a decision on how to handle the exhaust so that we weren't clouding out the timing guy at the dragstrip. They get a little fussy about that and I get sick of running the right lane all the time. :hammer: With the lowering kit, we no longer had the room to go over the axle with an exhaust. I could do it in front of the rear tire, but once we install the traction bars I may have another clearance problem. The stack was the only option that solved all the issues. I went with a simple 5" Aussie stack because it wasn't as gaudy (to me) as the larger stacks. I haven't settled on the height and may drop the stack 2-4 inches to give it a cleaner look. I'm certainly trying to achieve a certain look (with stance, wheels, and other coming modifications), but the stack is purely a functional aspect.

You have to watch the front because there isn't much clearence..... There was a guy on the .org who had a thread about lowering his 4wd leaf spring truck and I think he could only go like 1-1.5 inches lower than stock height in the front.. Let me see if I can find the thread for you

Sounds good. I'm not sure what route to go in the rear yet. Maybe just a shackle drop kit?

Just a different stack. A short Aussie or miter. It looks out of place for some reason now.

Sent from my x2 chillin in the middle of no where

I say a black 6"-7" mitre cut, sitting right below the top of the cab... But if the chrome stack stays then it would look best lowered down some and possibly offset to the passenger side. Then again if we all wanted the same thing life would be boring lol and when your in a truck passing sports cars at 100mph who cares hahaha
