Got the thumbs up from a Cummin's owner today...

Well...that's it...can't drive the ExtremX no more till Eric fixes it for me...

We have a bridge that is under construction, and the speed limit is only 15 mph while you drive through the construction area.

Naturally, after the bridge is a hill...and the speed limit changes to 40 mph.

Well for me to accelerate up said hill, I have to apply throttle...enough that Mr. Cummin's thought that all that black smoke was the coolest thing he had ever seen...

When I took the off ramp, he drove by...gave a huge smile, and a big thumbs up:thumbup:...then proceeded to show me how much his Cummins could smoke with 7 or 8" stacks.

I hate smoke, I hate guys that purposely blow smoke at intersections....and I sure as hell didn't need some Cummin's guy giving "ME" the thumbs up that is was GREAT to see all that smoke going up the hill.:mad: :doh:

Eric.....I need your help here man...

I feel ya there man. I hate azzhats that blow smoke everywhere they go. Happens ALOT where I live. Especially pisses me off when my wife takes our daughter(11 months old) somewhere in my truck and comes home telling me some c0ck$uck3r in a cummings with a turned up tip blew smoke all over her at a light. Wish these douche bags would do that crap when I'm in the truck.

The reason I love Matt's tuning on my 7.3. Only time it'll smoke is that split second before the charger lights off. Tune that is on my pcm from a PO is absolutely awful. I was embaresed to drive the truck. I agree 100% on the blowing smoke on purpose thing. I hate it.

The ExtremX is a STRONG tune for sure.
It's just the gear change and lock up into top gear, that happens at a bad time.
-If I was on the track, it wouldn't be an issue, as it pulls like a train...just like Eric said it would...but for street driving...it locks up at 50mph, which is the speed limit through town...and the RPM falls to 1500...right where there is next to FA for boost pressure.

I can pull 10 psi of boost at 1750...thats where everything starts going...10 psi drive pressure, and 10 psi boost pressure...but with 285/150's...she's a little dirty, even with that much volume of boost.

Both of my buddies 08 and 06 dmax with Idaho rob tunes out smokes my psd all day long. your statement is invalid. :poke:

We all know the tuners can give as much fuel as we can use, and then some.

Pretty sure I'm given 'er all the fuel she can take...and then some more...just-in-case.

Popped in an old tow tune, but was extremely disappointed in the amount of power I lost...just to control the smoke. Couldn't get above 1200*F...and I'm sure it couldn't pull a greasey sausage off a plate.
And NATURALLY....THAT's the time everyone wants to race...

I still don't fully understand why you are running 285/150s, want really quick spool up, low EGTs for towing, and no smoke. Seems like you need a smaller setup or a separate vehicle.

Why 285/150's??? I lost a tip off one of my injectors in the old set...and the stock 2005 hpop did not have enough oil to even run them. (225/100's)
I got the hpo to run these now...just need "Live Tuning" for the setup. I can't just walk across the street an knock on my tuners door, so getting them updated takes alot longer...I have even asked Eric what would be cheaper...him flying out here to tune my truck, or me driving down there for him to do it.

I change alot of stuff around...
I try alot of different turbo housings, etc.

Twins are suppossed to be the best of both worlds....WELCOME TO DIALING THEM IN!!!

I have the same issue with my extreme x with late lockup. Some shifts happen too early. OD happens at 35mph and my TC locks up at 45mph...all under part throttle and that's waaaay too soon and the truck lugs bad. I've recently removed my 64mm non vgt and am trying out MTW's vgt hybrid turbo with batmo to see how it does. I need eric to change my OD shift to like 40mph and lockup to like 50 or 55mph i think.

Sorry man but I gotta agree. I wouldn't put that big of injectors in a street truck and then bitch about smoke. Its never gonna be smoke free.

Ivan just have eric cancel od in toww haul. Your problem is od and lockup drop together,causing to large of a rpm drop.

Its the best of bolth. Lockout od when you need to. Engauge once its time to cruise.!!!
