I thought you had your travel trailer you towed? No more?

Sold it last year.

Sorry man but I gotta agree. I wouldn't put that big of injectors in a street truck and then bitch about smoke. Its never gonna be smoke free.

There's smoke, and then there's SMOKE Its just locking up too soon. I know there's gonna be smoke with theses injectors...I knew that before I got them....the whole point of this thread is that there is too much with the ExtremX tune, to run it everyday without Eric changing the final lockup for me. (I don't have an Xcal3) Everything else about it is good enough for now.

Ivan just have eric cancel od in toww haul. Your problem is od and lockup drop together, causing to large of a rpm drop.

Its the best of bolth. Lockout od when you need to. Engauge once its time to cruise.!!!

Could you pm me about this please...sounds like that could work.

I guess my original post is a little misleading.

The reason it smoked so bad going up the hill, was because it locked up in OD, which dropped the rpm down to 1500, and it just smoked bad while goin up the hill.

The only way for it to downshift, is to back off the peddle, and slow down till I'm under 50mph...then it downshifts. If it down shifts, the smoke disappears to a slight haze. (no problem)

I tried the Extreme Street tune as well. It has the more desirable shift/lockup...but less power again.

TC doesn't unlock if you tap the brakes with your left foot? Meaning you're still stepping on the skinny pedal at the same time.

Read my mind, can't you just tap the brake to unlock the TC, or is the tune making it lock up and stay locked up? I know with X-race with the lock up in all gears, you can tap the brake and feel it try to unlock, but it locks right back up. Not sure if the extreme X is the same way or what...

No, that does not seem to work. (tapping the brake)

It's ok if it's not locked up, but if it is, I HAVE to slow down to the last shift point before it downshifts.

Same as driving on the street...the shifts are at 10mph, 15mph, 30mph...only way it's different is if you got it to the floor.

The other point of this thread was the Cummin's owner thinking it was cool.....I...do not.

wow...10 psi at 1750 rpm. that must be nice lol

Like I mentioned...with a load, (hill) I can have lots of boost...but if there is no load, I got no boost. (or if rpm falls to 1500, I'm backing off the peddle to get it to downshift.)

Eg. Calmly driving down the street,.to get up to speed of 30mph, the truck hits just over 2000 rpm...with no load...and I have no drive pressure, and...no boost. (normal)
If I aggressively speed up, and put a load on the engine, I can have 10+psi boost by 1750-1800 rpm. (but it does take more fuel...and leaves a tell-tale sign in the air)

Ivan, i have to do the same thing with my truck. I have to slow down to a certain MPH for it to unlock and downshift. I didn't know you can have a tune written for just tapping the brake for it to do this rather than slowing down to get it to happen. I hate having to slow down for it to downshift.

The trucks do it from the factory, any time you tap the brakes it should unlock the torque converter. The only way it wont do this correctly is if you have a tune like x-race loaded where it's constantly telling the torque converter to stay locked up. It doesn't downshift, just unlocks the converter. You don't have to take you foot off the throttle for it to work either, just give the brake pedal a tap and it should unlock and RPM's will go up a bit.

a buddy of mine had eric wrie him the Extreme-X tune with no lock up. Just like a beefier version of extreme street. Shifts really smooth. Then again, he has a stock transmission so that was probably a good idea.

send me a pm kyle if you wouldnt mind.

Ivan, My tsd tune shifts 1-2-3-5 then locks at 45mph in the direct gear and then holds out overdrive until 60mph, its much better. How did eric tune yours to shift now?

Gosh, i must have a f'ed up trans then because my trans has never done this...whether it be under stock programming, tow tune, street tune, or any of the extreme tunes.

Mine will unlock but locks right back up again unless you mash it to the floor....makes no difference what program I have in.
