For all of you guys that are running a PMF RSK, I have a question:

How much room is beteen the side to side crossbar and the core support?

I'm going to be running a 2.25" RSK and want to know exactly how much room is there to determine how big of an intercooler I can run. Currently have a Hypermax Tapercore i/c from a SD and want to keep it, but don't know if there's enough room between the crossbar and the core support.

Thanks guys!:blitzed:

I just replied in the other thread. I am happy to work with you to get this figured out.

I'll get pics and measurements up tomorrow. 300 miles away from the rig right now, so I've enlisted some help on getting them.

Cut the crossbar out and remount it or use a smaller piece of heavy wall pipe in it's place where ever you can make it fit around the cooler, thats what I did with mine to make everything fit. I don't have a PMF, I have the one Cary sells.

Just one option.

I think I recall reading where someone ordered one without the cross bar welded in place to make it work with a plow mount on PSN.

These are the only decent pics I could find on my computer. They don't show much. Bottom of ic is below the bottom of the core support but above the bottom of the plastic below. There's only about 1/4" between core support and ic. I believe the core of the ic is 3" thick but the end tanks are bigger and it does angle forward as it goes upwards. I'll get specific measurements today.

Are you converting your truck from 2wd to 4wd?

No, I'm going to be selling my 2wd dually (what the pics are from) but thinking of putting the tapercore on another f350 4x4 we have since its already modified to fit the obs. That truck currently has a 6" lift on it that I'm removing.

I don't believe our normal crossbar will work with your taper core from looking at those pics.

Could a 2.25" be custom built to accommodate and still have rigidity from side to side?

As soon as I get the measurements, I'll post up. I'll have him pull a measurement from the bottom of the core support to the outer most point of bottom if ic. And the same measurement only in line with the bottom of the frame rail.

Yes and no. I can custom make each side hanger to be independent and send the cross bar loose, so that you could weld it in. This would allow you to locate it out of the way of the inner cooler. Given the space limitations, I would not feel comfortable doing it any other way.

Ok I have some measurements to go with the pics above.

At the bottom of the ic/core support: 4 1/8" from front of ic to core support.

At the bottom of frame rail (as a linear plain reference because ic angles slightly as it goes up: 4 5/8" between front of ic and core support.

I looked at your the photos of the tapercore and my set up. There is not enough room to place the bar where Trevor locates it with the tapercore hanging down low like that. I think the way to go would be to build two independant brackets for each side. I think I would then tied the two sides of the frame rail together with a piece attached to the bumper brackets maybe a piece of rectangular tube. I think this would sacrifice some strength but would work on a lower lift RSK.

For a measurement the back side of the square cross member on mine is 3 1/8 inches from the front side of core support. There is not enough room with the cross member in place for a intercooler either in front of or behind it.

Thank you for the work on getting measurements Tom. I'm going to have to look into either getting rid of the tapercore or mod the rsk like you've suggested.

Trevor, would you pm me a price on what you're suggesting? Also, isn't the crossbar solid to the outside of the hangers as well? If that's the case, would locating it where will work with the ic compromise integrity?
