im runnin erics extreme street tune, industrial injection stage 1 upgraded turbo, 4.30s, high ram, 6.4 banjos, afe intake, and 4" straight exhaust. did some boosted 4x4 launches last night and it runs like a scalded dog but around the 1/8th egts climb to around 1450 and i let out. tried it several times... not real sure how high is too high but im guessin i wanna keep it below 1500? my uppipe is leakin some.. i think that might have something to do with it but it spools quick.. anyone know what i can do to cool it down?

I would say your temps would be my limit. I know folks run hotter but I just cant justify it for it me. You could get an intercooler, that would lower your EGTs at least 100F. You could get a batmowheel for your turbo, which I think would net you another 100F. That is 200F permanently. The last option would be something like water/meth which would get at least another 100F but probably 150F and maybe 200F and it would only work when you had it filled and in use.

Aside from setting up an injector and turbo system, these are your easiest options IMO.

Sounds pretty normal for a hot tune. I can hit 1500 with my truck running x-street. Aslong as its only a few seconds I don't worry about the temps. And as was stated intercooler and suposedly batmowheels are showing egt decreases.

I used to max out a 2000 degree pyro by 1000 ft in my 6.0 when I was making a pass...never hurt a thing

Short butts won't hurt you it's sustaining those temps over time that will cause meltdowns

tried the race tune today. same results, i stayed in it a lil longer this time just to see how high it would go. it was climbin to mid 1600s and i lifted, it holds 31 lbs of boost but i know my up pipes leakin and i have a small boost leak, im gonna fix those and see how it does, could be a volume issue. i would like to see it run no hotter than 1500 or so... i dont like gettin much hotter.

lol my highway cruising temp is between 1050-1150 on flat ground. your temps are normal. fix the up pipes check all your boots, but its not gonna bring it down a huge amount. you are still short on air so its going to be a little warm.

My Looney Wild from Quick Tricks will get me into the mid 1600's as well. When I first loaded the tune and did a 4x4 boosted launch I freaked the f*ck out. I got plenty of reassurance that it would only be an issue if I sustained those temps. I've been at 1600+ quite a few times with no issues. I don't like the temp that high, but the truck runs like a raped ape on that tune. Since I put the S&B CAI on the truck I havn't gotten above 1500, but the outside temps have been cooler and I havn't done any 4x4 launches. It has cooled down on the street though.

did data logging of an intercooler swap back to back and i MAYBE saw 50* drop, if your buying an intercooler, your more than likely using it to hold up to the pressures. dont expect the huge performance increase.

If you want to keep it under 1500* you better look at compounds or twins. I see 1600+ on my truck being that is as high as the gauge goes. I would not worry about it being short bursts. Only holding those temps will melt stuff...

I'm sure my truck has seen 1800-2000 more times than I can count. At least 1600 a hundred times since that's how high my gauge goes. I never worried about it.

Probably getting paid at work to post this from my D1

We have pretty much the same setup and I see those temps when I run hard too.

....I saw over 1600*F easy with my 66mm over S480....running 225's....on short blasts down the road....to the point of the needle pointing straight down.
Swapped out probes just to be sure it WAS that hot....it was...:fustrate:
