Hello MADPOWERSTROKE here, just had my guys at GDPA run their trucks on PHP's dyno with Bill at the controlls.Chris with the MAD stage one turbo just recorded a 475rwhp with fuel only on stock injectors and running 35" tires.Matt with the MAD stage 2 just recorded 485rwhp with fuel only on stock injectors, and running 35" tires. Both trucks on a cooler day with stock tires would have been over the 500rwhp on the stock injectors.I knew this was coming and just stayed quite for results, but these MAD Turbo Werks turbos just proved on paper that they are better than the powermax, and just set the hightest stock fuel injector rwhp numbers put down. This was done at a respected Dyno,by a respected dyno runner Bill at PHP.Nice job guys and I have some more powerfull turbos coming out. Thanks MADMAN:thumbup:

This question will be for Matt when he gets on but was his run with TSD's SPD and PHP's Atlas 80 FICM tune?? If you know Adrian, that's cool if you let us know. BTW nice job man. That is awesome.

Well tsd's spd tune has been 440-450hp on other dynos with stock charger but I really didn't think there was enough fuel left to go with the extra air. Ineed to get one of these chargers because I've not been to impressed with the powermax.

From the results that were posted and talking to the owners, both trucks were just about identical in terms of mods with the only difference lying in the turbos and the one that made 485hp even had a slight tuning issue, which kind of hampered the full potential of his performance (IMO).

Yes the stage 1 is the durastroke and the stage 2 is the Little Boy (4088 compressor on a gt37 series turbine). What I find most facinating is the very nominal difference (IMO) in compressor wheel sizes but relatively marginal difference (again IMO) in performance. Ok take the two stage 1 turbos (LLY and LBZ). The inducer on their compressors differ by only .7mm (62.8mm [LBZ] as opposed to the 63.5mm [LLY]) and the exducers measure the same at 88mm. Now the 4088 compressor is 64.7mm x 88mm. Here a difference of 1.2-1.9mm on the inducer only. I guess the point I am trying to make is if I were looking to upgrade from the stock turbo, I would look to the Stage 2 over the Stage 1. Now if one was looking for just a stock replacement turbo, then the stage 1 would be where I would go. What should also be noted is the fact that the 475hp truck had the LLY durastroke WITH a batmowheel and it still came up 10hp short (so it could have not done as well if it had a cast wheel instead) of the Stage 2. I guess I have made my point and am really just pointing out that I am surprised that little 1.2mm difference in wheel size actually had a measureable gain in performance.

I would agree with windrunner on this one. It's amazing what 2mm can do for airflow. I'm itching to try one of the big boys. I've been thinking about running one in a compound set up with a S400 series. Not sure which one yet.

I see your point but at the same time look at how the stage 2 is the same size as a pmax but yet lights better and outflows it. I really wish I had the money and I would be getting one now and selling this pmax.

One a second note does anybody have a compressor map of any of these turbos? Where do they fall off up top?

The powermax is NOT the same size as the 4088. The powermax compressor wheel is 63.5mm x 88mm (same as the LLY).

Here is a link for the 4088 turbo map.

Waiting on track mph coupled with vehicle weight....

This. ^^^

With nitrous and stock injectors I was putting out about 550rwhp (7000lbs @ 105mph) so the fuel is certainly there.

Also, I wouldn't say it "would've" made 500 until it actually does. Just a suggestion. ;)

Sound like the turbos are working well though.

:whs:
anybody wants to get a powermax for a decent price? I need one of the stage 2, because the Pmax is no good for heavy towing.

Didn't forget that stage 2 also has a .72 a/r housing vs the .58 a/r housing. Also the drive pressure for the stage 2 is 1:1.3, and 1:1 would be perfect and no one has ever gotten 1:1,not even Garrett. Here's a basic break down of the turbos horsepower wise on stock injectors(and tunes being run) the MAD stage 1 will give a 35-45 increase, the MAD stage 2 is 50-65 increase. Now remember that these guys are running 35" tire on the dyno,I wanted their street set up for the horsepower numbers. Now the next time we dyno will be in mid June and I'll have Matts truck tune running right, his truck was not letting the turbo hit the 35psi boost,it stopped the turbo at 26 psi.I figured the problem out but I wasn't there to help but, will be next time.He did have enough fuel and would have hit the 495-500 mark, but I will show it in proof in June.I will also get a set of stock size tires for the guys and their numbers will be higher so it's not over yet.I'm happy with the numbers but there is more I can get from both trucks and will.I would like to hit numbers that will stand for awhile. But the Dyno on June will be really fun since I'll be there, with the MAD stage 3 to lay down some really big numbers. Thanks to all MAD:pimp:
