Do we know what causes the noise? How to minimize it?

It comes and goes in my truck. The two trucks I test drove were super quiet, as was my truck when I bought it. Then it slowly got louder and louder. Some days its very annoying and loud. Other days it quiet like it used to be.

Driving to work the other day, it was especially loud, then about 200 yards from home, it went almost completely quiet and stayed that way all the way to work. Literally like somebody flipped a switch and shut the noise off. Then after work it was rattling again.

I've heard fuel quality is important. I usually get gas from Meijer, which is known as good stuff and has Schaeffers treatment in it. I also put an additive in every tank. Power Service this winter, and I'm using XDP now. If not Meijer, then usually a high-volume station near an interstate like Love's or Pilot.

One of the main reasons I bought this truck is how quiet it was when I test drove it. Although the idle noise is always quiet (I can actually order in the drive-throughs now), the driving noise is really getting on my nerves. It's really been making a lot of noise lately. My wife said the other day she misses my Duramax, and in regard to the noise while driving, I would have to agree.

I need to find a way to keep this thing quiet all the time.

I think this is the first time I heard of anyone complain about a 6.7 being loud.... I don't know what to say.

Take it back to dealer and get it looked at.?.?

I'm sure it will. 9k on it and doing good I just changed the oil for the first time at 7k with 5w40 valvoline synthetic and picked up 1-1.5 mpg. Just pulls boats 3500 to 7500 pounds so nothing heavy.

Takes 30k or so to get the gravel in the injection pump sound. The turbo will start making more noises and hopefully you dont get that electronic glitch where the ***kin converter unlocks and slams back into lock randomly while holding throttle position.

I am officially off of them now. For good. My unexplained pain in my left lung/ribcage area went away after three weeks of not riding in the pos. The dr and therapist both think it was the way the seat was curling me over....had since the 11s came out...the 11,12, and 14 all had the black mexican disco shirt upholstered seats that will ***k you up if you are taller/bigger like I am.

More and more people are speaking up about it all the time. Seems to be mostly the 15+ trucks with the fuel injection system.

Dealer. LOL

So what is making the truck louder than the 11-14 trucks? There is a 9% more stroke to the cp4 and new tuning. I guess they messed with the pilot a little bit...

"Fuel system improvements. Turbo changes drove improvements to the fuel delivery system, specifically a new high-pressure fuel pump and fuel injectors. The pump’s cam stroke is increased to deliver more fuel when desired for increased power. All-new injector tips better atomize the fuel, resulting in improved combustion that enables lower noise, vibration and harshness. Other benefits include cleaner emissions and a reduction in the buildup of fuel deposits on the valves over time."
