My friend gave me a Super Duty tank but he doesn't remember what wheelbase it came from. He bought a couple rolling chassis to put the coil sprung SD suspension under his OBS trucks.

Is this a 38 gallon tank? It is approximately 5' long, barely fit across my bed.

I want to replace the mid ship tank on my truck with it. If this is a 38 gallon tank, where can I read up on the harpoon mod and the mod for the hanger?

Thanks

Billy,
I'm very interested to see if you can make this work out.
If you have an extended cab and the 2 piece drive shaft, the carrier bearing cross member will be in your way.
If you go with a 1 piece drive shaft and get rid of the cross member it might work better.
Keep us posted.

A ccsb tank and a cclb tank are the same length. The difference is in the width, height and where the filler neck connects. The lwb tank has a filler neck towards the front of the tank where as the swb is in the middle. The lwb tank is deeper and wider to make up the difference, but the length doesn't change. I had both of them side by side when I converted my lwb truck to a swb.

I have the bigger tank in my V10 eclb. If you need me to, I will get some measurements on height, width, and length. I will say that I notice this tank much more, meaning I see more of it than I did on my ccsb that was lifted. That tells me that it isn't the length that I can see, but the height difference and possibly width.

Would you know if my tank is the 38 gallon one? Would you have pics of the tanks side by side?

If someone with the bigger tank could grab me some measurements, I'll greatly appreciate it so I can confirm which tank I have. Thanks

On edit, I found this on TDS

Then I found this on E-bay, 38 gallon
http://www.ebay.com/itm/05-06-07-FO...Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a282aafd7&vxp=mtr

A 30.5 gallon tank with the filler necks more towards the front
http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-09-10-FO...Parts_Accessories&hash=item27de854be7&vxp=mtr

This is really getting confusing. Probably the only way I could confirm what I have is by filling it before I install it.

It looks like to me that the 38 gallon tanks have the filler neck in the middle. While the smaller tanks have the filler neck in the rear of the tank, unless all the pictures on eBay are reversed.

Even the one you linked to is in the rear, when you stated that it is in the front.

I don't agree
the whole reason no one can put a CCLB tank in a CCSB is they don't physically fit
whats different in a CCLB CCSB ? LB it's longer

if it was just what you mentioned it would be a common swap IMHO

Billy..actually, a smarter easier way would be to put it on a scale. Fill it with water, then subtract heavy weight from the light weight, and divide the difference by the weight of one gallon of water. You could fill it with a garden hose. Can't seem to get a straight answer from anybody, could knock that experiment out in 5 min.

I wonder if it being supported only in the middle with a bath scale and full would be a issue?

5 gallon bucket x2 one filling and one being pored in would be fast and almost as accurate
