Thats right. Cummins 1 BTS 0
Snapped the input shaft on the way home tonight. Pump and convertor are junk. Im sure the trans is full of metal. Probably going to need a new 6.0 cooler. :cursing:

It happens.. When I broke one in my 450, Brian was quick to send me a new converter and shaft. Got them in a couple days. I was in Louisiana, thankfully Danny allowed me to use his shop to pull it, do the swap, and put it back in. Wish I still had the picture of how we lifted the truck. 20ft straps and shackles on the tow hooks, 10T overhead.. worked perfect! I also broke a few BTS's in the race truck. Mainly lost converters, but a pump here and there wasn't to uncommon

Better get it fixed in time for the 4x4 Jambo! I'm anxious to see it

Not going to happen before the jamboree. I was about to leave town for vacation. Since i have another vehicle it will probably get torn down over the winter. I want to go through some things so this is the push. Going to pull the motor also. Going to replace some freeze plugs in the head with screw in style. Also thinking it might be a good time to build a set of twins and install a 06 ECM so i can go to EFI Live.

I got the trans out last night. It may not be as bad as i thought. No metal in the fluid. Normal schmeg on the magnet/drain plug. Input shaft is in tact. It looks like i tore the splines out of the convertor. I'm hoping i can just change the fluid and filter, Flush the cooler, and install a magnafine inline filter along with a new convertor and input shaft for preventive measures.

I've gone through many parts in my BTS since swapping in the Cummins. I've maybe had the tranny out of the truck 5 or 6 times in the 6 or 7 years the Cummins has been in the truck? I have sheared the splines out of my PI converter before, and you are correct. If the input looks good, just throw a new converter in and you're good to go.

Gordon did the same thing on his BTS with his cummins powered Ford. I also just had the same thing happen to my new BTS torque converter. Only made it 40 miles before I took the splines out.

Layson, Did you replace the input shaft when you replaced the converter??? Mine looks fine but i wonder if there is a small loss of material on the splines that caused the 2nd failure on yours.
It sucks i am 4 months out of warranty.
I am hoping to have mine back by the 18th so i can still go to Indy for the Jamboree. I'm having them tighten it up a notch while it is apart since i have turn the power up from when i had Brian spec out the converter.

On a side note i am a little disappointed in BTS as i called Tuesday morning and talked to Tina and i never got a call back after 2 days. When i called them she said there was a $375 charge and it would take a while to get it repaired. That is why i went straight to Precision as they said they should be able to get it back in my 2 week time line. I under stand the charge and it does save a bunch on a new one.

First time no. Gordon didn't have to either. I did the second time since I let the truck idle for 20 min with my two year old in it with the AC on. So I think that took it out. Yours is probably just a stock shaft. I think you have to be special to have a billet one lol
