hi guys, it's time for an upgrade from my s10 and I've always wanted a powerstroke. I've heard the horror stories about the 6.0, and I've been looking at 2010 6.4l trucks. Any advise? I live in Ca, so I'll probably keep it smogable. I'm sorry is this bridge has been crossed before. Thanks!

A: 6.4 horrors are worse than 6.0

B: no possibly way to have even a semi reliable 6.4 and have it smogable

C: save the bones for a 6.7 or buy a lowish mile 6.0 and have a shop do some reliability mods and a good tune,

I disagree. I had a good 6.0 and have a good 6.4 so far. Both were and have been great trucks. I pull heavy and tow hard so I dont baby the trucks. I think with both maintenance is key.
If your going to leave it stock then get a 6.7. Those things are monsters stock towing.

6.4 is definitely better without smog crap. If you can't remove it then the truck will be a pita.

I have a 6.4 and it has been good to me but its deleted. He said he wants to keep it smogable. I think anybody that owns a 6.4 or knows anything about them will agree that if you don't delete you are probably better off with a 6.0 or 6.7.

Read my last sentence and he said probably.
