Here is what the gauges are looking like while the truck is in 4x4, and I roll into it.

Bottom gauge is a 0-100 psi measuring the drive pressure off the engine exhaust manifolds.
Next gauge is a 0-60 psi for the pressure driving the primary. (82mm)
Next gauge is a 0-60 psi measuring the pressure out of the primary. (82mm)
Top gauge is a 0-100 psi which is measuring the total boost into the engine.

What I see:
80-95psi drive to the secondary turbo. (63/68/.70)
~50 psi drive to the primary. (82/92/1.10)
30 psi out of the primary.
~60 psi total boost to the engine.

I would still like to reduce the amount of drive pressure to the secondary, but not loose any spool up, so I can retain the streetability of the set up.

Thoughts, options, & ideas???

I would have thought you would have more total boost then that... I see 55psi with 205s... external gate ftw

No external gate.
The secondary is a T3, internally waste gated housing.
I have opened up the ports to 0.620" but still have too much back pressure.

I also feel that the HX40 flange is not sealing 100%, and I have had to tighten the up pipes twice, as when they leak, it sounds like a blown bellows....but tightening them down seals them up again.

My question to you: What do you see for back pressure/drive pressure to your 62/70?

Your turbine wheel is a 65mm, so if anything, your drive might be higher then mine, and overspeeding your secondary.

What are you getting out of your primary for pressure?

I'm really starting to wonder if my bp guage was reading low after seeing your numbers.. I was getting 63 psi of bp at 55 psi of boost

External gate is what you need. I see 62-63psi of boost and ~75psi bp on fuel with my 66/74/70 and s483

When I had my 62/68/70 on there I was spraying it at the track with my gate closed up to much and was seeing 90-95psi of back pressure and my thrust bearing chit the bed.

I don know....I bought a GoPro to video the gauges for me instead of me trying to hold a phone camera, and drive at the same time....

I just think that if the drive pressure "through" the secondary had less restriction from using a bigger exhaust wheel, a couple of things will/should happen:
1 -the bigger wheel will have more "power" to be able to do more work.
2 -the bigger wheel will flow more all the time, which would help bring on the primary quicker.

I don't really like how the drive pressure swaths when the gates are swinging, so if I step up to say a 73mm turbine wheel, and put the BD diverter valve back in...it may work good, and I may be able to tac the gates closed.

Well...I have a .80 A/R housing coming from a vendor on another forum...along with a 66/73/.70 if the guy ever gets it off his truck...or off the shelf..."cough", "cough"..Shawn.

uhmm...you never did get back to me on any of that...

You said I wasn't asking for much, and I said I thought I was helping, by being very specific as to what I wanted.LOL

By the time the gate starts to open your secondary should be spooled. Too laggy, adjust gate accordingly.

External gate dumping to your primary, drive it a little harder.

I have been looking at how I could install it without it being a complete PITA...AND look good...
I haven't come up with anything yet.

You guys have any pix of it done already?

And not on a 6.4...LOL

Well thats just it though. I had a spring on the wastegate actuator that was too stiff, and the gates weren't opening at all.

Then I backed the spring off more and more till the damn thing shot past my ear...then I had to drive home with the gates hangin open...wow, what a slow, smokey, hot b!tch that was.

Then I swapped out the actuator for one that had a weaker spring, and at least got the gates opening now...but I on't like the swathing of it.

Do you guys have the swathing with the external gates?
