what injection system do you think would matter the most in idle quality for a certain oil used? heui, which uses the oil to RUN/FIRE the entire injection system or common rail, which uses absolutely no oil what so ***in ever in the injection system?

Did I ever say that it would matter more in a common rail injection engine as compared to a HEUI injection engine? No. Your argument is invalid.

I havent tried the mobile 1 oil in my 2002 7.3 but I do run the valvoline full synthetic and Ive used rotella dino oil and I tried rotella t6 full synthetic when I couldnt get the valvoline for one oil change.

My truck runs night and day different with the synthetic over dino oil. Smoother, easier cranking and a bunch more responsive to the pedal.

The rotella t6 didnt seem to do as well but it wasnt horrible like the dino oil. More injector cackle with the t6 than with the valveoline oil was the most noteable part.

Im sticking with the valvoline. It works for me :)

He's trying to.throw a lot of "you serious" get a grip" and other rebuttal straight out of the phone salesman handbook because he doesnt know.

Jake, when somebody just says "rotella" what oil does it refer to?

I dont have time to sit here and argue with this noob. Ive got 450k+ miles on 7.3s and 6l trucks. Ive also got over a million miles on cr trucks. Oil matters in one, the other it doesnt.

Every year or two some.thread pops up and somebody talks about how rotella.or t5 or.t6 has reformulated this or that and then we tell em "its not.even synthetic oil". The typical response is "bbbbbbut it says full synthetic on the bottle!" We went through this crap over there #points# in early 2011 and it was still dino crap that had synthetic additves and whatever else it took to meet the minimum "full syn" requirements. Id bet it probably still is.

He can run it though. Its his truck. I just dont like people thinking they are.getting #1 when its #2. Literally LOL

T6 is Rotella. Are you being serious right now?

And I've only made two (now three) posts in this thread. Not once have I mentioned Rotella T dino oil. Get some glasses and stop making stuff up. You just lost pretty much all credibility. T6 isn't Rotella? LOL C'mon, give me a break. It says it right on the bottle.

I still find it hilarious that you ran "horrible" oil for 8+ years.

I know you have only been around since you started that thread about "need to buy me two six fers" last year but lemme explain something since you obviously read as well as you evaluate oil. I hear somebody throwing around the plain label "rotella" it means 15w40 dino oil. You referred to "t6"(synthetic marketed rotella) and then in your next sentence referred "rotella", which to most people besides you means the original, truthfully marketed dino oil. Theres a history lesson for you. I didnt.bother to quote you anywhere here as last time you didnt bother to look at it. Ill say it again, directly this time so you are forced to understand, t6 isnt full synthetic. Its dino baseoils and some alleged fancy additives. This.was common and known even recently but since you are green you wouldnt know.that.

Now go on and comment about me "running horrible oil for 8 years" as I already explained that I used it for over two years and 100k miles in my 03 7.3 from 3k-100k at which point all that was left to.cause my poor running issues was the rotella. The oil changed and the problems disappeared.

That is all. God forbid somebody read your posts and think you know whats going on outside your own truck.

I stated very clearly in my post that I was referring to T6. Is it that difficult to understand? This thread is about a 5W-40 synthetic. Comparing it to anything other than another 5W-40 synthetic is pointless, because they are in completely different ballparks.

Rotella is a brand, if you're not smart enough to understand by now. I assumed you atleast understood that much. I guess common sense is tough to come by these days, eh?

Oh and oil doesn't matter in CR trucks? Wow, you really are stupid. That just seals the deal right there. I guess that's why they have a "lifetime fill" in CR trucks, because oil quality doesn't matter, right? Oh wait, that's not true at all. Oil quality is important in ANY engine. Dear goodness, I guess I have to go back to square one with you. I assumed you atleast knew the basics of how an engine functions. I guess I thought wrong.

You seem to think that it's not full synthetic, but do you have ANY facts on the current formula to prove that? Nope.

And comparing T5 to T6 shows how much you know about oil. T5 is a blended oil, T6 is a full synthetic. Once again, not in the same ballpark. Saying that T5 is supposedly a full synthetic, as you were implying, is nothing but ignorance. It tells you straight on the bottle that it is blended. I guess you didn't know that either, since you are just now finding out Rotella is a brand name? LOL

And the whole thing your buddy Jake said, was just stupid. He's arguing with himself. Not once did I ever say that oil quality mattered less in a HEUI injection system as compared to an engine with CR injection. In fact, I didn't even compare them at all. But I guess you guys just made that up like how "Rotella T6 isn't synthetic," and "Oil quality doesn't matter in CR trucks," right? LOL

But yeah, keep running that overpriced T6. LOL I'll continue to pay $20 a gallon for the same thing you pay $30+ a gallon for. Seems like common sense to me. Oh wait, I forgot I'm talking to the same guy who ran "horrible" oil for 8+ years, thinks oil quality doesn't matter in CR engines, and Rotella isn't a brand. LOL Now it all makes sense.

NEWS FLASH: Rotella is a brand. Not sure who died and made you God of the forum terms, but Rotella is a brand name no matter how you look at it. I made it very clear that I ran T6 in my trucks, so common sense would tell you that I was reffering to that when that is all I run. But I understand why you would think that, since you seem to lack such common sense. Oh, and I've been in the game a lot longer than I've been on PSA. But nice attempt at belittling my knowledge. LOL

I'd like to see some proof on the whole "T6 isn't full synthetic." If that's true, you could make a killing suing them for false advertising, right? LOL Oh wait, no you couldn't, because your precious little "accusations" are nothing more than some words of a hillbilly. Nothing more.

I will say this about the t6 in my most recent experience, I switched from motorcraft 15w40 to t6 back last December along with 8onces of rev x. At first I loved the change it made and how easily the truck would start. 2000 miles later its hard to start when it's cold and doesn't fire up when it's warm like it use too. Ill be dropping the oil this weekend and swapping to something else to see if it changes anything.

Sickstroke- you done.crying yet smut?

Like I said you aint been around very long. Cuz everything you are saying is hilarious.

We all know what t6, t5, and rotella is. As far as you criteria for deeming fit what is suitable for.discussion in this thread, what does t6 have to do with mobil1?

The rest of what you say qualifies you for the idiot everybody thinks you are. Have a nice life. After you prove you're a huge moron Ive got little use.for you.

I used the Mobil 1 in my 05 and it liked it pretty well but my 03 was another story.. I tried, Mobil 1, Rotella, T5 and T6, Valveline, Motorcraft syn, that truck didn't like anything including me.. I do think that not all trucks run the same on the same oil..

No proof to back up anything you're saying? That's what I figured. Your response was equivalent to that of a five year olds. Nothing but name calling. No facts. Let me know when you actually want to prove any of that nonsense.

And I've been around longer than you think. If you think my diesel experience revolves around my PSA membership, well, you're even more stupid than I initially assumed. An if you want to talk about length of membership, you haven't been here much longer than I have. LOL

My reg cab despised dino oil once I added the gen3. I tried Rotella and then Cat Deo (apparently mobil1 makes it for CAT) both 15w40. Id be lucky to get 1000-1200miles before it ran like piss.

I switched to 5w40 mobil1 and instantly saw a difference in idle quality. The next OCI I switched to the 5w40 Valvoline blue syn and it showed no difference to the mobil1. So as its easier to come by and a few bucks cheaper a jug I went back to the Mobil1

The biggest thing for me was the addition of the gen3. It destroys oil. The synthetic seems to be good to almost 3000 miles. I actually noticed the Mobil1 seems better to the end of my OCI vs the valvoline idled rough for the last 300 miles.

Sh!t is pricey tho. 120$ for one oil change.

Unless, you just didnt list it, your signature doesnt mention anything about tuning or injectors. You can run salad oil in a truck with stock fueling and have no troubles.
That shows that you are not very informed. Any old oil WILL NOT work. Yes, performance adds stress. Will this oil keep the motor ticking or that oil.
Aggressive tuning, upgraded oil pumps, and injectors make obvious deficiencies in oil and performance.changes are.felt.

I ran motorcraft oil in my 00 and with a 100hp tune.the oil degraded fast.

Gotta use what works best for you.

I just find it hard to believe that guys with 6L are getting good results with oils.that wont even run right in a lowly 7.3.

Fwiw, I ran rotella(dino) in my stock 06.6l and lost four injectors in the almost two years it was around.
This is why people say " You pay to play"

That's because the oil isn't designed for the motor YOU have. Your motor (while still a 7.3 block) has upgraded parts. Not factory. They have been designed around the idea that people will take care of the vehicle they build, thus you use synthetic oil. People have to because of tighter tolerance, higher heat, pressure differences etc. I won't put full synthetic in my truck because it starts every morning like it is supposed to. Call me stupid if you want, but if my motor works you can't prove it.

And yes...when I do put certain parts/tunes on it, it will have upgraded oil. But right now she is happy...

Hell, my truck is liking delvac 1300 15/40 pretty well. I've just about run the gamut of oils and this is what it seems to like. I'm going ~5k miles before it starts idling crappy.

I would think that there are no oils developed for the shear that a heui systems puts on them. I could very well be wrong, but Imo motor oils are designed for lubricating and keeping parts clean and shiny, not being pressurized to 9 or 10 times normal LPOP rates and used to fire injectors.

I've never really put a lot of thought into this, just tried different oils to see what ran best in my truck. The truck definitely lets me know when it needs an oil change.

holy crap this blew up a little...

but yeah, when you say rotella it pretty much diverts the meaning to 15-40 dino.. now the new lingo as T5 or T6 goes, most will put a R in front of the T. for instance Rt6 or Rt5.... or actually say rotella t5 or rotella t6.... either way, when i hear the word rotella anything i cringe for my trucks sake.

I said T6, how many times do I have to say that? You guys really need to learn how to read.

And T6 is a very respectable oil. Just ask the 6.0L guys who depend on good quality synthetic oil for the health of their spool valves.

We drive 7.3's. We need to learn more than reading. LOL
