Yes, but the inserts would also need to be threaded for said plugs, AND have the relief cut for the o-ring. Otherwise it would just blow it out, and be a good leak point FWIW.

yes i mentioned they would need to be threaded... That they would need to be partially bored out for the o-ring to seal for sure. Thanks for mentioning it it slipped my mind LOL

Im not really worried about the top plugs sealing, but the ORB fitting would be a good idea, my main concern right now is getting the bottom bolts to seal up, I have a few different bolts im going to try out once i get it ported a bit better, I will bolt it up to my parts motor and see what needs to be adjusted, Im still trying to figure out a way to pressure test this thing

I am just posting these pictures to show the way the inside and top are done on Doug's Gogo stage 1 manifold for comparision. There is a lot of material removed from the inside for sure.
And you can see how there is an o-ring gasket on top to seal the lid down.

I've heard 150*-200* drop in EGT's. I'm not sure of the HP gains, but I'm sure with the extra air they would have to be noticeable.

That's the thing. Nobody has ever posted back to back dyno results with Doug's intake. A few have said seat of the pant feels like 30ish horses. Personally, with the gain in airflow #s, I think that number is a little low even for a stockish motor.

Doug has taken the stock manifold about as far as it can go without doing quite a bit more rework than he already does. There are maybe a couple things that might make some marginal gains though. Radiusing the plenum to port transition inside the intake would be one. He leaves them pretty sharp. In fact, I had to run a sanding roll around on mine to get rid of the burrs/flashing left over from the CNC cutter around the ports. For the price paid, I was a little dissapointed about that. Not a real big deal though.

Apex manifold is gonna address some of those issues ;)

I have the red LocTite 272, the red 262, and the blue 243.
The 272 is the high strength, high temperature...the 262 is the permanent strength, and the 242 is medium strength and oil tolerant.
I usually use the 272 on the manifold bolts.

I added another tapped port to the top of the drivers side cap so I can tube the Diverter valve straight into it, and have no more hoses blowing off. (might be something else to add to your intake manifolds Steve.)

That's good to hear. It really doesn't look like it would have taken much more effort to program the CNC to cut those radiuses. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished product.

Ivan's looks to have a much smoother port edge than what mine came out of the box with. Mine was bad enough I was for sure going to be ingesting little bits of aluminum through all 16 ports.

That's comforting. It's been a well over a year since I've spoken with Doug. I was pretty sure he said use the red high strength but couldn't remember for sure. That's the stuff I used. Thanks!

Can you shoot me some info and pics on this manifold. I'm in the market and have been looking at the GoGo unit. I don't think making my own manifold is something I want to try.

Yip...there are some things better left to the people who have the proper connections...

To seal the npt fittings. Apply teflon tape in a generous amount 6-10 tight wraps. Tighten it up and you should be able to hold 100+psi easily.
