Insurance company said truck was a "Total Loss".

What that means is, I proved my truck to be worth more then what they thought it was worth...(book value on any 2003 King Ranch ccsb 4x4 is $12000.00 to $15000.00)

The appraiser had damages up to $10,000.00 and that we without a mechanical inspection.

So the insurance gave me 2 choices:

Either remove all the aftermarket parts from the truck, and return it to stock, and get a payout of $xxxxx or,
Take the truck back, take a payment of $xxxx, an fix EVERYTHING myself.

But wait, don't sign on the line yet....before I can get the truck insured again, I have to have it professionally appraised, and then it will be covered...

I think it's my fault as much as it is theirs...
The value of the truck was known to the insurance company BEFORE I signed the policy papers....it's written right on it...
They should have asked for the truck to be appraised before they agreed to sell me the policy for the known stated value of the truck.

Live and learn.

I have the seats out of the truck, so I can shampoo the carpet, and clean and condition the seats.
The thieves were using the truck to steal copper wire.
Grab a reel of tech cable, start it on fire to burn off the outer insulation, and throw it into the back of the truck, then, with your sooty covered boots and clothes, jump back into the truck, drop your cigarette onto the rug, spill your mc Donald's caffe latte onto the floor, an have you buddy puke down the inside of the door...

Gives you an idea of what the interior was like.

No dents...all damage was scratches in the paint, damage to the box floor, dirty interior, spiked front tire, blown out rear brakes, popped door locks, broken ignition switch, stolen stuff, etc.

Im doing cash deals for all repairs from now on.

Getting the truck professionally appraised, and insuring it for that amount.

Then I never have to prove its worth by showing receipts again.

The insurance company can choke on the appraisal, and write a cheque.

Check out Progressive Insurance. I have them on my truck. My regular insurance wouldn't insure it. Make sure you get a REAL appraisal from a certified guy. There are ones out there that insurance outfits don't recognize. Work the appraiser a little as well. They don't normally appraise rigs like ours. My truck was the newest car he had ever done.... I gave him a list and price for everything on my truck that way it would help him figure out a value. Let him know this is just for insurance purposes that way he might give you a better number... You will get a value for the truck and Progressive will insure it for that value.

Honestly, it wasn't much more than my regular insurance...

Wow...found more stuff tonight...

They ripped off my Sirius/Alpine module antenna...right off the roof of he truck...didn't think anything more then...they were just being stupid, and just wrecking stuff...
Then I started to think that maybe they thought it was some kind of GPS tracking device, and they ripped it off so they couldn't track the location of the truck...

...maybe that's why the sunlight load sensor on the dash was taken too...

Then later tonight, I tried my "Viper" remote locks...didn't work...found the switch under the dash, turned it back on thinking it should work now...nope...WTF?..
Look above my rear view mirror...guess what? They ripped the antenna off that too. Stupid, stupid, stupid bastards.

I would almost want to get rid of the whole truck and start out new.

She's.cleaning up nicely.
My buddy has his own stereo install shop...I got a new "freebie" antenna from him.

Way too late to even consider starting over again.
