Okay so basically I've been looking for a truck for a few months, i've come to the decision that I want a 05-07 b/c of the front end and coil spring suspension. I'm really fond of the dark shadow gray metallic color and I like black interior with it.

Fast forward finally found this truck
http://www.jrsofeasley.com/568_V20130524124400/Easley/2007-FORD-F250-SUPER-DUTY-for-sale

From what I can see other than the center console lid having a piece missing and the crease in the tail gate it looks to be in pretty good shape.

It's about 6 hours away from me, so I found a local diesel shop to the truck (Nally 4x4 and Diesel Perf.) and called them about going to take a look at it for me. The owner generously offered to go check it out for me for free. He will probably make it out there monday.

I went ahead and called my local ford dealership to have an OASIS run. Truck had the egr/oil cooler checked and coolant flushed at 91k, head gaskets at 95k, and glow plugs at 98k. Also had various recalls sprinkled it there. No record of injectors being done.

The carfax also shows that the guy who has it now purchased it at auction.

My questions are:

  1. Should I worry that it was sold at auction?
  2. Assuming it will need injectors, what will that cost?
  3. What you think would be a good price to grab it for if it checks out mechanically. I'm taking $100 bills
  4. Anything else you're thinking and/or think I should know

Thanks in advance! Hoping to be able to get back in a truck ASAP

I wouldn't worry about the auction aspect at all. As for the injectors, expect $2k for the new set and labor for install on top of that. Be sure you mechanic checks the coolant vs oil temp, fuel pressure and ficm voltage. If those are off, expect a heathy repair bill. I couldn't pull-up the link but a 6.0 with near 100k rounds should be in the 16-17k area. Best of luck.

My 05 had 118k miles when I bulletproofed it. The injectors ran like a champ and wouldn't have gotten replaced but I was going bigger. You can do them your self very quickly. Took me three nights and I was taking my time and only worked about 8-10 hours total. I chased a lot of tools though. I would pull the trigger. Cash talks very loudly!!!

Doesn't look like a bad truck.. The price is a few grand higher than it would be here but the price varies one state to another.. Looks like maybe a lot of stop and go traffic according to the brake peddle.. See what the mechanic says about it..

hmm okay. I've never really done anything like that, I would probably try it myself, but time is a constraint in dental school. I do plan to bulletproof this eventually, but I don't know if I will be able to have it down for a while until around Christmas time. Hopefully it can hold out until then haha

Sorry to derail...but didn't you have a pretty well built 6.4....why a 6L? Just curious

sold the 6.4 because it was too big for the city, bought the audi. Sold the audi because it was too nice for the city. Want a truck again, but want to keep some of my car money put away for pay for school because interest costs on federal loans are 6.8-8%. Also all the EPA stuff kind of worries me to be honest

I didn't even notice that, good catch! I'm hoping he gives me a call sometime on Monday. Price may be a bit higher, but since its a AL/SC truck it should be rust free!

Cause 6.0s don't crack blocks or pistons

or do they? :D

:lookaround:

as for the injectors, they could last another 100k or they could go down tomorrow. a lot of it depends on oil change intervals, and fuel quality. or if they run out of diesel often its hard on the plungers and pintle. usually its just spool valves getting dirty. I wouldn't worry. if you go to a mechanic that actually knows what they are doing then it shouldn't be an expensive fix. knowledge is your friend.

The pictures are small and not of much use really but from what I can see, it looks like a 2005 worth 14K to me.. Going on 9 years old, 133K isn't bad, I would say it's worth a look if it's close by...

Yea it's 2.5 hours from here vs the gray one up top is 6 hours away. It's the back up plan though. 14 was what I was going to offer if that gray one falls through.

I really want a dark shadow gray metallic truck but if not, this guy texted me back today asking if I was still interested and said I could have it for 16,500. Would definitely ditch the stacks ASAP but doesn't seem like an awful deal.

I think 16.5 wouldn't be terrible at all. I would say that's a pretty good deal. Make sure a reputable shop did the gasket job so no corners were cut.

I love it, excellent condition with a little tear in the drivers seat. Half the seat is ripped open! That stereo is sure cobbed up too. I think 14k would be generous. The wheels and stacks are hideous. I'd pass on this one.

I'm planning on doing a 5" mbrp axle dump exhaust and have 20x12 gear alloys and 305/55 terra grapplers ready to go once I buy something. It'd just be nice to save a little money on all the bullet proofing, but at the same time don't mind doing it myself that way I know the shop that did it and that the work was done right

Knowing what work and especially by whom is very important. With all my projects, if I can't do it myself, I have a hell of a time paying somebody because there are so many half assed people out there.
