About to buy new exhaust system for my truck and I really need someone to talk me out of a 5" exhaust. Lol! Probably just subconsciously compensating for some sort of inadequacy. Anyway, appreciate anyone willing to steer my in the right direction. Currently looking at the MBRP systems as they seem to get good reviews for easy installation.

That's what I was thinking too. I want something that sounds sweet. If it gets a little annoying after a while I could always add a muffler. Do you like/have experience with MBRP? If so, what do you think of their stuff?

Stainless for sure. Only issue with mine is a tight fit between the spare and the shock, However I run a diamond eye. And yes ^^ the 5 has a beautiful tone to it.

What the hell took you so long ?

if its not the good high quality stainless then it will rot quicker then aluminized. I have aluminized on everything..

What size is your spare? Mine is a 33".

Every time I get some cash in my hand I end up spending it on field fence or using it fix broken stuff around here. Lol! I have had to patch the existing exhaust up a few times and the last time I did was the last straw. Nothing like contorting oneself between the driveshaft and exhaust so I can tig weld the top of the exhaust. I would of just used a slip on piece and a clamp but no one keeps any 3" in stock around here. The couple of exhaust places I called wouldn't sell me anything and I needed to tow a bunch of stuff the next day and didn't need the exhaust aimed at the rear axle the whole time. Lol!

Not sure the SS is necessary around here. I've read a few threads where people see good results with the aluminized stuff in the south.

Good point mine is aluminized too and quality stainless is $$$$ . Better to just replace the aluminized every however many years. You'd still be ahead after your second set.

I have a 4in straight pipe from flow prow with a 7in tip. An that's more then enough 5in won't make a difference then a 4in only the price will. An flo pro will be your best bet

Past the city limits on my patch of dirt
I have 4" with 5" tips
on the excursion and had it on the SD. MBRP on the ex and no issues. I would like it a little quieter in cab these days as it can be hard to hear the kiddos and have a conversation on trips.

I have 5" with a 6" tip on my 12valve (also MBRP, probably been on 9 years).... What a mistake that was on road trips lol. Yeah, I sound old. 😂

I wish I had a pic of me all contorted, but this is the best I have. There was actually about an 1/8" gap between the peice I patched in and the existing pipe. I just laid it in there and let here eat. Lol! I wish I would have had my wire feeder as I could have just done it one handed. I had to do the top left handed with the torch arm snaked around the hanger. It actually turned out ok. Good stuff.

Thanks for sharing your experience Frank. Btw, what year/cab/transmission is your 12 valve? You got a pic of it that you wouldn't mind sharing?

I hear ya on the funds, If it ain't 1 thing it's another.

Mine is a little over 4 years old and only has light rust in a couple spots. I was just under the impression that stainless lasted much longer. Might as well save the money get aluminized and have cash for turbo/injectors !!

Those things are definitly next on the list. Lol! Just need to make up my mind on what route to go on a turbo. Couple interesting prospects in the pipeline keeping me from just going t4 mount. Can't wait to see what comes out over the next few months.

X2 same boat here

I'm very anxious myself. Especially hearing "game changer" and drop in, together in a sentence.

We'll see if these "game changers" live up to the hype. I remember all the hype behind the brute 66 and similar turbos and they seemed to end up being sub par overall.
