Why not just go with a zf-5. Theres no real benefit with going with a 6 over a 5. And you got to do alot of extra stuff like with the firewall and tranny tunnel.

Need to go do some more research then Jordan, theres a huge benefit of going with the 6 vs 5. One of the big ones is the low gear in the 6 that the 5 doesn't have. That trans will fit without having to do anything to the firewall or tranny hump, so no clue where you heard that from.

The only advantage the 6 has is another gear before the 1:1 ratio. The ZF5's are cheaper to rebuild if anything happened. Personally I like the 5's because the throw feels right and it's one less gear to shift.

Theres been alot of talk on the OBS page about zf-5 vs. zf-6. I saw some people saying you have to do a little work to get the 6 to fit just right....thats all.......

I know there's been alot of talk about it, but not alot of them have actually done the swap. I've talked to a couple guys who have the swap done going from auto to ZF6 and they had no issues at all, and didn't have to touch the firewall or trans hump. You have to modify an auto trans crossmember for it though, modify the shifter for the manual t-case, and new drivelines, along with some wiring.

Anyone who says they're no advantage of the ZF6 over a ZF5 is dead wrong. Try towing with both of them. That low gear in the 5 is a compound low, the 6 it's a true low low gear for pulling. I'm setting the truck up for heavy towing, so the low gear is what I need. The gear ratios are close, but not exactly the same too, the ZF6 turns aprox 2-300 less RPM's at the same speed as a ZF5 in OD

Michigan recently received two inches of snow and about 6 inches of salt was applied to the road resulting in the unwanted salt bath :cursing:

Thats a good looking truck there Sodbuster. Some window tint would go great with those blacked out turn sigs and corners.

Just added this to my collection today! I traded my 93 F250 4x4 460EFI auto and a 78 Honda XR125 Enduro for it.

It's a 95 F350 5spd that's got Stage 2 Rosewoods, 6pos TS chip, Intake, 4" Exhaust to 8" stacks (these will probably go away eventually), Centerforce clutch. It needs some work, but it was a good trade to me I think. I'm going to de-sticker it, remove the body molding, Fix all the problems it has, and throw another leaf in the rear to get it to sit level
