Here's the thing. I don't care what oil anyone runs in their truck. That's most certainly their business. That being said, I like misinformation about as much as the next guy. If discussion is required to rectify said misinformation, then we all benefit from it in my opinion. I even learned something from this myself after taking a few minutes to read up on API standards and more about what they mean. There's apparently a lot to it, and it is costly for companies to get the licensing. Interesting stuff, to me anyway.

I stand corrected, I see that most of their oils do carry API now. Last time I looked, years ago I admit, they did not.

I run Schaeffers 9000 as well as the 7000 for countless years and miles. Over the years I have slowly converted over to using most all of my lube fluids that they manf. I have found from UOA they to offer the best perf. I have used just about every oil out there for a good portion of time and always seem to find Schaeffers works best.

If I had to choose a dino oil you could get anywhere it would be Mobil Delvac 15w40

The last oil I would put in my engine would be Rotella. Not sure what has happened with Amsoil over the last few years but what they offer is certainly not what it use to be with these new forumlas. They will also no longer state they only use POA and group IV so it could be just about anything. All you get now is we offer what gets the best performance. Same thing has happened at Mobile One with their syn. Schaeffers tells you exactly what you are getting within reason even with the additives. A number of rep companies also use Schaeffers oils/lubes to include BTS, Beans, Valair, etc..

When looking at oils for our Heui driven engines the number that IMO is the most critical to look at once you have chosen between dino, Fake Syn, or Real syn oils is the HTHS Value (High Temperature High Shear) Then things like the TBN which are going to be lower with real syn oils.

We've ran Rotella in every single diesel we own, and even our four wheelers. Never ever had an oil related issue. Our friends that run a big fleet of Volvo's hauling milk everywhere also swear by Rotella.

That being said my brother has slowly switched every fluid in his 6.0 to Amsoil, and i currently have Rotella T6(synthetic) in my truck. Which i'm not running it again, cheapest i can find it anywhere is $21 a gallon and noticed no difference at all. Next oil change will be Schaffers or Delvac. Still trying to find a local place to get Schaffers, but i saw Delvac at my local Napa for $10 a gallon so i'll prolly grab some of it.
