Yesterday I was driving and the truck stalled like I turned the key off. Replaced cps with a spare I had and it started up after sitting about 30 minutes. Ran to Fors today to get my other another spare and I'm on the side of the road again with same thing. Stalled so I pulled over. Change out with Ford part and tried to start but won't. Wait to start light is not coming on, same as before. The other thing different is that the truck had time to cool off yesterday verses today. Any ideas besides Cps? Checked fuses, they are ok. Truck does have a chip.

Check fuse 22 . The one for the fuel heater n the bowl. If that's it disconnect heater at bowl and you should be able to get going again

Check the #22 fuse under the hood again to make sure that it is good. Don't just do a visial inspection but use a meter. Here is a LINK to just which one it is if you are not sure.

I took it out and tested it, how do you test in the truck? Sorry, googled it and found how to test it outside the truck.

Also tach is not moving, fuel bowl has fuel in it, switched different IDM.

I think it is supposed to be within an inch of the top, check how much oil you have in the engine. If it gets low enough the truck will not run, though I am not sure how much you would have to lose, probably a gallon or two.

If you don't have power to the #22 fuse then the truck isn't going to start since it supplies power to the PCM relay. The oil level in the HPOP should be within a inch of the top but could be down a little due to you trying to start the truck.

If fuse #22 is good try swapping relay 1 with relay 3 or 4. Refer to the link that I gave you to tell which one is which.

If the tack is not moving its not picking up the tone ring from the cam sensor. It wont fire any fuel till it does.

Hpop is probably 2 inches from the top. It's had three CPS fuses in it in a week. One of which was Ford new one today. I switched relays around. Nothing. I put OBD II scanner and it says it cannot communicate with vehicle. Is a 97 ObD II?

What kind of scanner are you trying to use? Also I should of asked before but did you get the WTS light before when you tried to start the truck and are you getting any other warning lights when you turn the key on? You may of lost the PCM.

It's an Actron CP9145. WTS always worked before the two times it wouldn't start. When you crank it it gives CEL, engine temp and fuel filter, battery also. I pulled the ICP and it has oil on it. Won't crank when I took it out.
